Alessandro, le cose sulle iso invariant sono molto semplici.
Ho la a7r4 che nel secondo gain lo è dai 320 ai 6400, il succo è che ti conviene tenere - a parità di tempo e diaframma - i 320 e avere uno scatto scuro piuttosto che alzare a 3.200, hai lo stesso rumore nelle ombre ma molta più leggibilità nelle luci, che a 3200 clippano prima.
Ignorerò qualunque tua illazione contraria, visto che la fotocamera la possiedo, la so usare mentre tu vai a convinzioni o peggio sensazioni.
Se vuoi i raw, chiedi...forse sarai accontentato. |

@Otto scherzavo... Se la scena ha poca luce e il contrasto è basso e non si può parlare di alte luci, allora un frescone fa questo:
- determina f/ e t a 320 ISO;
- in modalità M riporta f/ e t precedenti e impone 3200 ISO;
- prima di fare prove (con una A7R però) ero convinto che il salto di 3.33 EV (da 320 a 3200 ISO) comportasse una foto più chiara in proporzione, ma lo stesso SNR, visto che la luce che passa è uguale;
- invece no, aumenta anche SNR (per me: inaspettatamente), se non riaggiusti la sovraesposizione;
- se uno aveva ombre fonde all'inizio, esponendo così (cioè con 3200 ISO forzati) le schiarisce e insieme aumenta SNR;
- se invece apri le ombre con + 3.3 stop (sotto Exp) le ombre le schiarisci ma a discapito di SNR;
- in una scena normale sovraesporre 3.3 EV a 3200 ISO porta a bruciare le luci, non ce n'è, qui si parla di ombre buie;
- dimmi che ho preso la vacca per le balle, non mi offendo |

Val, l'iso invarianza non è perfetta e nel caso di scene che non contengono luci alte da rendere leggibili (es. un lampione che sarebbe bruciato comunque, tra bruciato e carbonizzato chemmefrega) conviene forse usare una sensibilità maggiore, l'snr qualcosina guadagna, ma il guadagno non vale la perdita di DR - capitale - nel caso ti trovassi nella condizione di gestire scene a contrasto più alto. |

come per altro ben sintetizzato da Bill Claff:
"Note that when ISO is raised then highlight is lost in direct proportion to the change in ISO.
For example, increasing from ISO 200 to ISO 400 is always a loss of 1 EV in the highlight portion of PDR.
However, as we raise ISO, in the analog gain region, shadow performance always improves (sometimes only slightly).
This results from fixed noise in the sensor becoming less important as gain increases.
When we raise ISO one stop via analog gain, the PDR will drop by some value less than one stop (sometimes only slightly less than one).
This is why the PDR curves all ultimately have a slope of -1 on their right-hand-side.
The amount of improvement in the shadow measurement when ISO is increased is what I am calling the PDR Shadow Improvement.
For those shooting raw it can be useful to know when raising ISO in the camera has little or no advantage over applying digital gain in post processing.
(Some people call this property "ISOless". I think that is a very poorly chosen term.)"

Appunto, da quei grafici si vede come il guadagno nelle ombre alzando la sensibilità da 320 a 3200ISO, nella a7r4, è modesto.
La perdita di DR drammatica. |
