Dalle foto l'86 sembrerebbe un po' più definito al centro mentre sui bordi risulta più sfuocato (il che è un bene se lo si utilizza a fini ritrattistici ma un contro se si ricerca nitidezza in luce scarsa).

anch'io confemro di avere il 24-105 da 7 anni e la stabilizzazione serve davvero pochissimo. molto più utile invece è l'escursione che arrivando fino a 105mm ti lascia un po' più di libertà rispetto al 24-70 2.8.
detto questo, avendo già un 24-70 2.8 non vedo perché dovresti cambiarlo.
detto questo io sono per i fissi MrGreen

infatti a meno di esigenze diverse terrei il 24-70mm o lo sostituirei con un 35mm f/2, poi prenderei un 85mm 1.8 e per il tele quello che preferisci tra il 70/200 o il 100 400 a seconda delle tue esigenze.

Se per le focali basse rinuncio volentieri allo zoom, il 70-200 è un'ottica così performante e così flessibile che rinuncio volentieri alla maggiore apertura dell'85. Purtroppo caccia fotografica non so dirti, mai fatto, ma per eventi 70-200 per me è insuperabile
