ah guarda io parlavo da ignorante in materia, perche sentivo molti paesaggisti ricercare la nitidezza anche ai limiti estremi del fotogramma. Evidentemente ho frainteso io.
Allora:
- reportage tutto nitido
- paesaggio solo al centro.

Credo che Zidany si riferisse alla resa a TA, non fondamentale in ambito paesaggistico visto che si scatta quasi sempre a diaframmi chiusi, mentre nel reportage - soprattutto serale - la luminosità è spesso preziosa.

Se ho ben capito sconsigliate il 17-40 perchè il 16-35 lo batte decisamente nelle situazioni a TA? Alternative ai due classici zoom Canon? Per la cronaca, in abbinato dovrei comprarmi anche l'EF 40mm

Secondo me se hai il 17-40 e sei abbastanza soddisfatto puoi tenerlo senza problemi. Perchè cambiare?
Ma se devi comprare un obiettivo alla differenza di prezzo che vedo (es. Galaxia 650€ vs 960€) la vedo dura scegliere il 17-40 per una ff. Su aps-c il problema nitidezza ai bordi è molto minore.

non riesco a comprendere il motivo di quella leggerissima perdita di nitidezza al centro ... forse quella copia non era buona? possessori del 16-35, riscontrate anche voi questo leggerissimo difetto?

Avevo il 17-40 acquistato in negozio pagato 1000 euro 3 anni fa, sabato sera l'ho cambiato con il 16-35 f4 is stesso negozio 1000 euro, ieri ho fotografato una manifestazione con gruppi di più persone, posso solo dire eccellente.
