Ci tengo a precisare che, per il tipo di fotografia che faccio, non mi interessa minimamente ne ll fatto di avere uno sfocato da urlo ne una minima distanza di MAF. Fotografo treni (la mia grande e innata passione) nel paesaggio e il mio grande problema è quello, inquadrando il mio soggetto a distanza (200/300 mt), di "fotografare" anche l'aria che c'è tra me e il soggetto.

Tant'è che avevo pensato anche di provare il più datato 400 f5,6 anche se non IS poiché fotografo su treppiede

Allora fermi tutti, per quel tipo di foto non credere di avere un salto di qualità tra il 100 500 e il fisso. Il limite è dato proprio dalla pulizia dell'aria. Secondo me andresti a buttare soldi e perdere versatilità.

Il 300 is ii è assieme al 500 is ii una delle lenti meglio riuscite a livello ottico. Il 400 do è perlappunto un difrattivo e pertanto non ha la stessa qualità ma penso che senza andare a ingrandire delle mire ottiche al 100% nessuno potrebbe dire "ecco questa è stata scattata con il 300 e questa col 400" insomma sono fisime, la qualità c'è ed è tanta anche col 400. Al limite qualche differenza si potrebbe vedere nei controluce e in qualche caso sporadico nella qualità dello sfocato.

Purtroppo su quella non si può fare granché, qualche tempo fa ero a fotografare camosci sui sibillini e le vampate di aria calda mi hanno rovinato gran parte delle foto, ho fatto qualcosa di decente solo verso il tramonto con aria più fredda
