Secondo me dipende molto da che focale vuoi coprire. Se ti basta arrivare a circa 70 mm allora il Sigma 17-70c è una buona scelta (io lo uso con la D5500) e rispetto al 18-105 avresti un bel po' di luminosità in più ed uno stabilizzatore migliore. Se invece vuoi un range maggiore come tele la scelta migliore è il 18-140, in pratica alla pari come risolvenza (ed in certi casi migliore) e luminosità del 18-105, ma con uno stabilizzatore ottimo. Certo non farai mai un grande passo in avanti se vuoi un range così esteso, come resa su questo tipo di lenti sei arrivato al capolinea. Lascia perdere il 16-85, non vale la differenza di prezzo. Il Sigma 17-50 2.8 non è una brutta lente, ma nelle focali centrali è molto morbido ai bordi.

Come zoom tuttofare ho il 18/70 nikon comprato usato a 80 euro quindi seguo l'argomento.
In ogni caso il mio pensiero è che avendo praticamente tutto quello che serve se si deve cambiare va fatto solo per fare un vero salto di qualità ""

Questo è quello che avevo scritto 2 mesi fa e prima o poi cambierò il mio 18/70 (che è sicuramente migliore dei classici kit)
Le mie ricerche avrebbero maturato questo :
Sigma 18/35 art e 85 F1,8 Nikon

Per tornare al primo quesito (che sicuramente a Natale avrà risolto) l'unica cosa che mi sento di dire con convinzione è che passare da 18/105 a 18/140 è un non senso. Migliorerebbe solo la baionetta da plastica a metallo.
Se si cambia deve essere per migliorare
