Pros: Brightness, warmth in color rendering, blurred, minimum focusing distance

Cons: Not sharp at full aperture

Opinion: It's a lens that didn't immediately grab me. Used to the tessar 50 f2.8, I expected this lens to surprise me with microcontrast and sharpness with more speed. Instead, they are two completely different lenses! I find this pancolar a more dreamlike lens, especially if used with a fully open aperture: its minimum focusing distance of just over 30 centimeters leads you to experiment with visions of this type, where the main subject is well isolated from the context. In my opinion, it is a lens with which it is necessary to get the hang of it and must be used in a creative way.

Pros: Bokeh, minimal footprint, contrast, character, beautiful colors.

Cons: Considerable loss of contrast against the light... in line with the objectives of the time. 6 lamellae of the diaphragm.

Opinion: My specimen is a newer multicoated electric (which is absent here on the forum), not the oldest zebra: I would never use radioactive lenses. The optical goodness of this mini-gem is known. From f/5.6 onwards it is quite sharp and contrasted, but already at TA it is acceptable. It has character, and unlike the boyates you read, this also applies to its blurry, which is more "nervous" (but in an aesthetically pleasing way) than an EF 50 1.2, with which I compared it to 1.8. I do not like lenses that "cancel" the background with the apparent effect of a uniform matte layer, on the contrary: I appreciate that you can see small irregularities, textures, light onion bokeh, moderate swirl and safeguarding the possibility of putting the subject at the extreme left or right in the frame. Here, these characteristics the Pancolar has them. At TA the contrast is absolutely not comparable to a very good current lens, but it is acceptable if used properly. For close-ups of subjects (evidently non-human) it is very interesting thanks to the minimum distance of 35 cm. Not easy to find them in good condition. Put the hood on it, it loses contrast in an exaggerated way if the light enters in the wrong way.

Pros: brightness, color rendering

Cons: nobody at the time

Opinion: vintage lens that I found at about 70 euros. I was curious to experience photography a little less "automatic". I use it in the macro field, where it seems to me that it blures out some not bad, associated with a good detail. The brightness is excellent; returns files with vivid colors. Use with tripod is a must for optimal MAF.
