Yongnuo YN685 II Canon : Specifications and Opinions

The Yongnuo YN685 II Canon is a flash for Canon cameras with guide number 60 (at ISO 100), with a coverage for focal lengths from 20 to 200mm (14mm with the wide-angle panel, built-in). The recycling time between each flash varies between 0.1 and 3 seconds depending by the power level and by the type of batteries.

It has a infrared AF assist lamp and wireless (radio) control that allows to use the flash at distance. The head can be tilted by -7 to +90 degrees and rotated by 180 degrees.

It is powered by 4 AA batteries (alkaline or Ni-Mh); it measures 77 x 210 x 67mm and it weights 426 g. It is in production since 2021; the current price is 142 €. no votes.

sent on April 03, 2023 Pros: Power, color, measurement, functions, construction and materials, charging speed, radio system, value for money. Cons: Small display compared to others but well readable, needs powerful batteries, overheats a little, not suitable for sustained gusts but at that price you can not want more. Opinion: I own two canon 580ex ii and I had to use them remotely with receivers, so I decided to buy this new Yongnuo, since I was in possession of the transmitter, considering its integrated radio functions, before using the canon I have always used flash of the yonguno and now I have returned to use this brand preferring it to other competitors like godox because of their particular feeling with Canon sensors. What can I say, a flash that is built very well, full of functions that have nothing to envy to the 600ex, a very large dish with a minimum value of 20mm very comfortable, great power that amazed me, color of the lightning and TTL measurement really really really good for a flash from 140 euros, I hoped for a slightly larger display, But already having a battery icon unlike the Canon already does a lot ... The only flaw is the burst, in continuous shooting mode "H" does not hold, four shots out of seven are covered, it works better in basic continuous shooting, it consumes a lot of batteries, better to use it with professional batteries, if you keep it in action for too long it can easily overheat, I think it has no internal cooling function, for the rest it is really a beautiful flash that amazed me! I recommend it to all those who do not want to spend a lot for an original flash at home, at the price it has is highly recommended!
