Pros: A "Cameraphone" to the nth power, photo quality among the TOP and 4K 60fps video best in the Android world (to date), Beautiful screen, Power to sell, possibility of excellent selfies thanks to the use of the main cam being able to use the mini rear screen, super fast charging 67w both with cable and wireless, excellent autonomy in light use with the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced, excellent value for money (if imported)
Cons: Bulky and thought (I got used to it immediately) with very protruding rear cameras, little exploited rear display (to date), no video output (USB-C 2.0), tends to underexpose in automatic mode in photos, software can be improved in photo management (but in general, with the latest update, it has improved a lot), "only" 3 cameras (with a less pushed telescopic S21 Ultra style)
Opinion: Taken about a month ago in chinese version of 512 GB from an excellent site at the price of 910 euros ... I can immediately say that those who are looking for a real cameraphone, here are on the safe side. I'm not too much to dwell on the "generic" aspects, but suffice it to say that it is a real ULTRA TOP of the range, and at the hardware level it has very few smudges: it is heavy, it warms up a little when you squeeze thoroughly (but that depends on the SOC, the Snapdragon 888), USB-C only 2.0 without video output, rear oled screen still little exploited .. but apart from these aspects, in the others it excels greatly, from the superb screen, to the very powerful speakers, to the fluidity of the MIUI (which with the 12.5 Enhanced has improved a lot, and of serious bugs I have no hands encountered), and precisely to the 3 main cameras that are a real bomb: - The main Wide is pushed by the Samsung GN2 sensor of 50 MP and large 1/1.12? (the largest to date in the smartphone world), 24mm equivalent, f/1.95 Dual Pixel Pro AF OSS Quad-Bayer with 1.4?m/2.8 pixels in 4:1 binning - The Ultra Wide and periscopic Zoom are Sony IMX586 48MP 1/2.0" Quad-Bayer with 0.8?m/1.6 pixels in 4:1 binning (ultra wide 12mm f/2.2, telescopic 5x 120mm f/4.1) - Extra dToF sensor. The main sensor is a real beast, it always returns excellent photos even at night, and with close-up shots it allows you to have that look with little PDC typical of compact cameras with large sensor that in the smartphone world is unique. Even the other two cameras, which usually mount sensors and poor optics, here have the Sony sensor that 1 year and a half ago was used as the main sensor in smartphones, so they do not disfigure: the Zoom then even if "only" 5x, allows for example 10x with hybrid zoom to have perfectly sharp shots (let's say that it holds discreetly up to 30x, and for me the usable limit is the 50x, the extra one is only for emergency shots). The only sore point is that, even if on paper it should be the undisputed ruler of cameraphones, then in reality it is not so, since in real life the processing of images could be better, with lights and shadows ... in fact it can be said that it remains on par for example with the S21 Ultra (with the plus that the Samsung has 2 zooms, a 3x and a 10x that certainly help globally). For the video department instead nothing to say: even if it still does not reach an iPhone 13 Pro, I can confirm that they are of excellent quality, especially in 4K 60 that are fluid, defined and super stabilized (there is also 8K but I have never used it either). At the end of this, I remember that all 3 cameras shoot in RAW, and I must say that I can't wait for the port of the latest GCAM of the new Pixel.. I think that with this hardware you can pull out stellar shots! In addition, the quality / price evaluation that I always do: from us it was officially released at 1399 euros in the 256 GB version, and obviously this "version" I do not recommend on all fronts, and I tell you quietly to aim for an S21 Ultra that costs even less, it is easily found (since by official means in recent months this 11 Ultra has disappeared here in Italy). But if you are a user aware of all the negative points, and you want to buy it in an imported Chinese version, there are a couple of reliable sites (which I do not report here) where you can take them at really competitive prices: a store for example sells the 12/256GB version today for 797 euros! So ultimately... if you want to take photos and videos at the TOP in the Android field, you are willing to spend more than the average without fainting, then this Mi 11 Ultra is the most sensible choice to date, at least for me!
