Pros: Maximum F1.4 aperture, build quality, excellent performance, price etcetc

Cons: I didn't find them.

Opinion: Viltrox has churned out a little gem with exceptional value for money. As already read, I confirm that the dimensions are not very small, comparable to the 23mm f1.4 of the parent company Fuji. On the other hand, to have a 1.4 aperture and such good performance to date, the price to pay is the size. However, very portable and very balanced with xt style camera bodies (1/2/3/4/5 and xh all). In my opinion a must for street, architecture and landscaping. As well as indoor photos, even family photos or similar given the wide-angle focal length which, if used well, does not have noticeable distorted effects. Advised!

Pros: Sharpness, Aperture & Construction

Cons: Different color rendering from Fuji optics

Opinion: It's not a small lens, it's quite demanding in terms of size, but like many lenses, even full frame, the large aperture, which is not for me a feature sought after in a wide-angle lens, and the performance often involve an increase in size. I prefer it to the Fuji 14mm which was already a good optic. The diaphragm has no click but is a choice. The color rendering is different from that of other Fuji lenses, in fact I use it together with other Viltrox 23, 33, 56 and 85. The price is also affordable and doesn't hurt.

Pros: Sharpness to all apertures, overall quality of professional level, excellent contrast, construction. Cost

Cons: Not tropicalized, otherwise nothing.

Opinion: Optics that amazed me! Like the 75 f1,2 .... Very high level lenses at very low costs! No distortions, a blade for sharpness, at full aperture works very well even at the edges to be perfect intermediate diaphragms, diffraction at closed apertures almost absent, silent and fast in focusing, wanting to be picky is not tropicalized na for a use " normal " is perfect, I used original fuji optics that are not at the same level costing double, used on XT5 with a particularly demanding sensor with excellent results Highly recommended.

Pros: Excellent optical performance, as well as the construction level.

Cons: Slight tendency to flare.

Opinion: Optics that were missing in the Fuji system. The nearest fixed wides are 14, but it is 2.8, and 16mm. The equivalent 20mm are very important to me and mark the boundary beyond which I begin to have completely personal compositional problems. This 13mm therefore marks for me an alternative to the excellent 14mm Fuji but opens "only" up to 2.8. The construction is of an excellent level, I would say like the best Fuji. Diaphragm ring clickable to third aperture, mechanically very precise as well as the manual focus ring. Lightning-fast focus in all conditions. Splendid optical yield with high resolution from the center to the edges from the maximum aperture. The top is reached at 2.8 and remains up to 8.0 / 11 then the diffraction (perhaps) comes into play and you lose a minimum thread of sharpness. And I'm talking about 40 mpx. Geometric distortions practically absent without the need for software corrections, such as chromatic aberrations also very well corrected. Tonal rendering in line with the Fuji lenses I own, so no need to intervene on the Jpeg to standardize it. The main defect (and perhaps the only) a certain predisposition to flare in adverse conditions. I therefore recommend constantly using the hood supplied which, among other things, is made of metal. Among the defects I also insert the scarce blazon of the name that will make some purists turn up their noses. To me, however, it straightened out after seeing the price that for once remains on planet Earth. The filter diameter goes out of my standards and that's a shame. I would have preferred it the same as that of 10-24. I would have preferred it to be tropicalized but I do not make a drama of it. In conclusion, an optics that has greatly satisfied me and that gives me confidence in the brand. We will see if reliability and any need for assistance in the future can be a problem. Considering the price, 10 out of 10.

Pros: Sharpness, build quality, brightness, autofocus

Cons: Not tropicalized, lack of optical stabilization, vignetting at the edges more or less visible to all diaphragms.

Opinion: My opinion is related to the version for Fuji X. Impressive value for money. The perception of the build quality is clear, even higher than that of some Fuji lenses, where it beats them all (I think) for the excellent all-metal hood. If we really wanted to find a defect in this sector we could attribute it to the focus ring that offers a resistance to the limit of too much smoothness, but which is still well manageable. Fantastic the ring of the apertures all indicated on the lens (Fuji, would it cost you so much to do the same?) that offers optimal resistance and a clear and safe feeling of the shot at the change of stop. The sharpness is definitely the ace up the sleeve of this fabulous lens, sharpness that is maintained from the center to the edges even at full aperture (there is a very slight loss at f1.4 visible only with strong magnifications). Another interesting prerogative is the minimum focusing distance that also drops the under 22mm declared. There is, for lovers of the genre, an interesting bokeh effect, even if the focal length imposes very narrow shooting points to obtain the best result, which could limit the use of the effect in portraits. Fast, silent and precise autofocus even in the absence of strong contrasts. Optical stabilization is missing, which is a small limit for those who, like me, do not have the stabilizer in the car. As far as I am concerned, I photograph mainly with tripod or in light conditions that allow me to use safety times. I can also thank you that at f1.4 you need very little light to be able to shoot safely. It's not WR, but almost not all of my lenses are and I've never had any trouble photographing, taking some precautions, from ice to deserts. There is a slight vignetting on all apertures (quite noticeable at f1.4), but in digital photography this is not a problem, unless you shoot directly in jpeg, in which case you will have to take this factor into account. I think we can argue with good certainty that this lens offers the image quality of a Fuji at double cost. Truly surprising lens that, in my opinion, can worthily replace the first Fuji lenses of similar focal lengths.
