Pros: Price

Cons: disre lit

Opinion: I bought this optics (used) to go beyond the 55 mm of the lens in kit and with the idea of having an all-do light and versatile: I realized after a few months that it had not been a perfect choice and I sold it to replace it with the 55-250 mm, which is the natural continuation of the 18-55 mm. This lens is disre lit and makes you realize that the beauty of the reflex is to have a lens for every occasion. Good thing is that it is sold with the standard lampshade.

Pros: Versatility, price

Cons: Sharpness, AF, inbright, stabilizer

Opinion: The classic bottle bottom. This lens is just the perfect example to understand that if you buy a reflex/mirrorless (interchangeable goal) you have to put in to account to spend money on goals, otherwise better buy a compact. Some time ago I decided to buy this optics to match my eos 1300 d, never chosen was more wrong. I'm just telling you that the 18-55 kit is much sharper, more responsive. This lens has as pro only the focal excursion, otherwise it is really bad in everything. Bad sharpness to all focal points and all diaphragms (at TA the RAW file is truly unwatchable), built very badly (all plastic, including bayonet), and also suffers from chromatic aberration. Distortion quite accentuated, but with this focal excursion you put it into account. If you want a lens to start with which to experiment all the focal points less than 200 ok, otherwise leave it alone.

Pros: Focal Range, AF speed, build quality, 10 year warranty

Cons: Sharpness, AF efficacy with low contrast, chromatic aberrations, low brightness, little effective stabilizer

Opinion: I purchased this lens in the store at €235 in anticipation of a trip overseas, to try to make a light trip, with only one SLR and one lens mounted. The first thing that jumps to the eye is the enormous versatility that can offer a focal range of the genre, passing from a discreet wide angle to a tele quite important. From the focal point of view, therefore, I find the 18-200 absolutely complete if the need is just to travel with one lens or simply if you want to start with photography and want to better understand which focal you prefer to use, then maybe Aim at higher performing objectives (fixed or zoom, depending on the quality/price you want to achieve). Conversely, as it is also normal for a superzoom like this, the optical quality for strength suffers, showing loss of sharpness that already from the 80-100mm are visible and worsen gradually up to 200. Even the chromatic aberrations, particularly with the very contrasting scenes, appear particularly evident. The Autofocus has an acceptable speed, not as fast as a USM but not as slow as the traditional Tamron AF (see that of the 17-50); My specimen has no problems of front/back focus offering a very high precision, even if sometimes, in scenes poorly contrastate, it is a lot of effort to fuocheggiare, forcing the manual focus. I Add that the excursion of the MF ring is not too high, so it takes some dexterity to peck the perfect fire in manual; Finally, the focus is internal, so it does not rotate the front lens, for the benefit of using a circular polarizing filter. The overall build quality, given the price, does not seem bad at all: although it is probably all plastic returns the same a feeling of robustness and for now I do not highlight games or pieces "shaky". Very nice Aesthetics, worded only by the dust that tends to accumulate visibly on the rubberized ring of the zoom, being very wide. The Lens hood, as in all Tamron lenses, is supplied. Available at the moment, Polyphoto warranty 10 years. Just bought at the beginning I was sick, too disappointed by the optical quality that does not even in the slightest competes with the other lenses I had (especially with the fixed or even the Tamron 17-50 smooth). But Then I decided to continue photographing without worrying about the quality, but simply... Photographing. And there I was able to fully appreciate the strength of this lens, which allows you to eliminate-perhaps almost completely-the time factor/hassle/encumbrance of carrying around and replace other objectives, which would risk blocking in starting a particular Shot. Once we have entered into this type of reasoning, I believe that this is a lens from which the maximum was pulled out, maintaining a low price, so I recommend the purchase.

Pros: Very affordable price with long-long life guarantee (the one taken from me 10 years polyphoto), lightness, more than good optical rendering. Very good stabilization and very natural rendering of the colours, all in only 400 grams and with an enviable range of focal lengths in just over 10 cm.

Cons: At long focal lengths and with scarcity of light you have to go up ISO. Plastic bayonet.

Opinion: My considerations are expressed considering, of course, the excellent price-quality ratio and are therefore not to be taken as absolute value. First of all the construction with a good assembly and the materials that do not give the sensation of having a toy between the hands: the zoom extends quite fluidly from 18 to 135 with a single slight forcing from 135 to get to 200, but I think with the use tent to SCO Mparire, and once extended completely, it maintains extremely stable without games. Frankly, from new, the lock button at 18mm I guess I will never use it. The plastic nozzle, joins perfectly with the body and also here there are no games and the whole is well balanced (I tried it on a body Nikon D 7200) and I think that the best coupling of this lens is with entry level bodies of Nikon series 3000 and 500 0 with medium-high pixel density for holidays with reduced baggage or for generalistic use. The focus, I was really surprised, quick and accurate with just a slight buzz when going over 2-3 meters up to infinity while it is almost silent at short distances. Precise that I used the MAF with the center point and was found accurate and without hesitation already at the first attempt; Then I inserted in the traectory towards the focus, disturbing elements but, always using the center point, I got subjects in focus without any front-back focus. The optical yield is more than good at the shorter focal lengths even at relatively large and medium openings with a slight penalization of the extreme areas that disappear by diaphragming at F 8 and thus continue up to 135 mm without substantial sagging. To obtain an optimum yield at 200 you have to close further up to F 11-16 and the yield is still good. At 18 there are barrel distortions, visible species with geometric subjects, but unexpectedly smaller than those generated by much more expensive and emblazoned even-range optics (an example for all the Nikkor 18-200), while going up with the focal lengths and moving from Medium wide-angle medium telephoto they change of sign and decrease, so that in the use not "architectural" barely see themselves. The fall of light at the edges, is present but never very high, especially at the medium-long focal lengths and the parasitic reflections and the flashes, with the help of the lens hood and a prudent framing, can be well managed as not excessive. In short, I find this lens very successful and suitable for short trips outside the door or when you go wandering to photograph without precise purpose or for the holidays without having the mood to bring the equipment on the beach because of sand or mountain for the weights and excessive clutter.

Pros: Price / quality ratio, focal range, flare resistance, good color rendering, stabilizer.

Cons: Little bright and is not the utmost of sharpness but given the price there may be, MAF weak with little light.

Opinion: Discrete optics from 18 to 55/60 mm, then suffices. It is a good substitute for the Canon standard zoom as optical and mechanical quality as well as to have always available an economical teleconference that still works dignitously. If you're paired with a wide-angle zoom, maybe the Canon 10-18mm Canon, with two goals and a small expense, cover almost all the shooting needs. Effective MAF but with low light goes into trouble and sometimes forces it to focus in manual. The assembly is good even though it's all plastic, including bayonet. The hood is understated, effective but lightweight. There are better similar optics, but on the level of the price-quality ratio this makes its shape and allows you to get some satisfaction without feeling faint. Recommended considering its limits, I'm happy even though over time I will definitely go to something more powerful, maybe by taking a "standard" bright and good quality zoom and then a zoomed, brighter canvas zoom. Inso I have fun with this!
