Pros: File quality, shutter speed and autofocus
Cons: Battery life
Opinion: Having owned the mark 3 in the past, I thought a bit before buying it. At home I have everything, from bridge with 2/3 sensor, micro 4/3 kits, apsc and full frame, so I think I can give an objective opinion on this camera. I would like to advise you to sell everything and go only with her, because she will never disappoint you. He does everything, but really everything and he does it damn well, so much so that sometimes it almost makes me angry. Let's start from the optics, the yield is excellent, at all focal lengths and all apertures, use it safely at full aperture always, convenient the fact that it has apertures on the lens and also the limitation of the focus to make it faster, by button, like any good lens dedicated to photographic hunting. Excellent also the resistance to flare and the softness of the blur, which will be done by playing with the length of the focal length having a small sensor. The lens, however, is the same as the mark 3, so if you do not need the operating speed and the bomb autofocus of this mark 4 you can also buy the mark 3. Yes, let's talk about the operating speed, autofocus equaled only by the latest mirrorless (this is so since 2017!!!!), very fast, very precise, does not lose the subject even if you commit to do it, incredible, and it does it at 24 fps REAL, you got it right.... Attention this is a bridge, dear, but still a bridge, but worth every penny of each component. Let's talk about the sensor, small ok, and thank goodness, in a kilo you will have an excellent 24-600 f2.4-f4 and being layered, or stacked you will also have a good yield up to 1600-3200 which are many for a camera of this type. The construction is also excellent, with a nice sense of robustness, it is tropicalized and for those who do birdlife it is a nice plus. It is possible to completely silence the machine and work up to 32,000 seconds so as not to disturb the animals. The controls are also positioned very well, very convenient the mechanical wheel for exposure correction and the quick menu to have immediate access to the main functions of the camera. I think the step forward compared to the Mark 3 is truly remarkable. Sometimes I go away overloaded with equipment, always looking for the right optics, or very heavy to photograph animals and I always wonder why.... Yes, inside me I know, for pure passion, I like to have so much equipment, but believe me, this Mark 4 would do everything in the same way, in a single kilo, without danger of dirtying the sensor. My only fear is that the market is now taking us elsewhere and the risk is that sony does not produce more, for too long fans have been waiting for a mark 5 that may never arrive, with cameras like these you buy only once and you do not buy optics, it is not convenient to make them so good for them ....... The things I like little ..... battery life, I would like there to be an additional grip and that the manual focus had the limit switch to infinity. If you have a friend who owns it, try it, you won't regret it :) |
