Opinion: I have always snubbed this lens perhaps because of its reduced max brightness and perhaps because of negative experiences with brother 70-200 4.0. I was wrong. This 70-300 is in my opinion slightly higher than the 70-200 as resolution and image quality that I find discreetly distributed up to the edges of the image on the 24mpx. Beautiful colors and good blurred complete the picture that then becomes positive if you consider weight, clutter and ergonomics. On the A6400 it becomes a 105-450 and makes it stabilized. Price more centered than that of the 70-200 although as usual for Sony moved upwards. Quite recent purchase, so I reserve to integrate between a few hundred shots under various conditions.
