Impeccably built like all GMs. It offers a really nice blur and the detachment of the planes is remarkable both at full aperture and at f2.8 and also at f4. The sharpness is extreme, even too much in my opinion. The contrast is incredible. The af system also works very well on machine bodies that lack speed and accuracy. Both vignetting and aberrations are very well controlled. Of course to build a 50mm f1.2 there are physical and dimensional proportions to be respected and therefore I am aware of the fact that Sony technicians have almost done a miracle in producing this GM smaller and lighter (even cheaper) than the competition. The fact remains that for those like me who love the mirrorless system for weights and dimensions, this 50mm f1.2 is a bit 'at the limit. Each of his images gives emotions. The bokeh that produces I really like and reminds me of that of the 85 GM but this 50mm is superior to the 85 in many other aspects. Opinion: I own 4 GM lenses including the great 135 but this... well it left me speechless really. I came from the excellent Sigma Art and was uncertain about the purchase because it had never disappointed me even though it was not a "professional" lens, but this new Sony jewel really amazed me. Very sharp already in TA, already... to that 1.2 that for us at Sony is a bit the discovery of hot water (in Canon it has existed for a lifetime) but that we really lacked! Made almost dreamy and very sharp at all openings with a solid construction like all GM lenses make this lens a must for those like me who love the 50mm focal point. On the other hand, as always, we find the price, but these lenses are bought once in a lifetime.
