The 300mm GM is the most transportable and the one that holds the TCs better, followed by the 600 and finally the 400 which unfortunately does not excel compared to the Canon and Nikon with teleconverters. You have to close it down a bit, let's say at f/8 it's fine, it's usable at f/5.6 at 800mm but you have to work on it a bit in post. The 300 on paper would be the one that offers the best in terms of transport and lightness and performance. But you're always short. A 600mm fine. An alternative is to carry the 200-600 with the 300 or the 400-800, but it is still a matter of carrying 2 lenses. With the 400 f/2.8 you are covered more or less on everything. And at the same time 90% of my photographs in recent years are mainly of birdlife. So my review is based solely and exclusively on this field. As a reference point, given that the optical park of Sony super telephoto with E-Mount mount is almost nil, I chose the excellent Sony 200/600 that in terms of performance and sharpness is already at the top, and also because 90% of Sony users use this lens for birdlife. So I hope to be of help to all future owners. Logically, since we are talking about two totally different lenses, light weight and zoom comfort are not mentioned in this comparison. To make it clear how crazy this lens is, just say that with the multiplication 1.4x, autofocus and sharpness are higher than the smooth 200/600!. Who reads my statement will say, and hell 10000 euros of logical difference that it is better ... , but only those who have Sony can know how much is already at the top the 200/600.
