Opinion: Bought very recently, I wanted a fixed and bright wide-angle. I switched from the viltrox 16mm f1.8 to this one (great lens) and of course the improvement is noticeable. Much lighter, as sharpness we are almost on par but on the AF side definitely in favor of the 14mm, the weight is lower and the dimensions as well. I will use it mainly for weddings and interior photos. I must say that I was very undecided between this and the 12-25 GM but thinking about it I made this choice to reduce weight and size and favor greater brightness, I really think I chose well. Let's see if time will eventually prove me right. Anyway passed with flying colors!

Opinion: I've been using it for a few weeks and I put it under pressure, used both day and night. Let's start with the cons: The impossibility of mounting screw filters I put it as a big question mark for the simple fact that when it comes to these focal ranges generally on all lenses it is impossible to mount screw filters. Unfortunately, the fixed hood, for obvious reasons given the rounded front element, implies the use of 150mm holders with specific adapters and the cost is substantial. Pros: Incredible sharpness, I was incredulous when I found super sharp files from side to side already from TA, if you really want to "enjoy" just go between f5.6 and f8, at f8 you reach the total peak, at f11 the diffraction begins to be felt but still remains very sharp and even at f16 despite the diffraction still returns sharp files, I shot quietly in situations where I needed the maximum of the PDC without doing focus stack. In terms of materials I don't think there is any need to talk about it, it is a GM lens, it needs no introduction. Weight and size: since I started photographing a little more seriously, 14mm have always been a problem for me, despite being a focal range that I really like, and if a few years ago someone had told me that sooner or later I could have a 14mm f1.8 that weighs 460g and with this size I would have laughed in his face. This is an engineering masterpiece made in Sony. The only competitor is the Sigma 14mm f1.8 which weighs almost 3 times as much and twice as long. Autofocus: I never thought of using 14mm autofocus, but instead I had to change my mind. In essence it is truly an exceptional lens, it manages to have all the qualities that are sought in a single perspective in landscape photography; Sharpness from side to side, versatility, amazing rows already at TA for night shots, light, compact, tropicalized, do I need to add more?

In combination with the 24 1.4 GM it constitutes a pair of unsurpassed, bright and light wide angles, which give total satisfaction to the sensor of the A7R4.
