As you might expect from a portrait lens with f/1.4 opening, the bokeh is excellent and the out-of-focus areas very soft, as if to create study backdrops: the nine slats make very well at maximum opening. There is no significant distortion for a purely portraiture lens, but if it is used for architectural purposes, or where you still feel the need, it is correctable by setting the appropriate Photoshop tool to the +0.3 factor. The vignetting is quite visible but is already disappearing by closing the diaphragm to f/2.8, not forgetting that the drop in brightness at the edges is one of the aspects most easily corrected in post production. Autofocus uses an ultrasonic linear AF motor that is quite fast and quiet, although its accuracy is a function of the quality with which the single model was assembled: fortunately I have a successful one, but there are cases of front/back focus; for manual focus the lens has a "focus-by-wire" system similar to Canon's STM.
