Pros: Magnification, lightness, blur effect

Cons: micrometric focus, low light

Opinion: I am fond of this lens because it is the first one I started to "play" with, mounted on my father's SLR (which I still use, the EOS 2000D). I love all the features and with a little patience you get used to shooting even in non-optimal light conditions or with uncooperative subjects. The color rendering seems pretty good to me, but in terms of sharpness it is difficult to get a noteworthy shot, probably both because of the intrinsic quality of the lens (certainly not excellent) and because of the high iso + very fast shutter speeds to which you are forced to shoot, especially if you want to avoid shake (or reduce it as much as possible). The best results are certainly obtained by mounting the camera on a tripod but frankly I think you lose the flexibility that such a lens wants to guarantee compared to a traditional telephoto lens. If I had to recommend it? Surely yes, to approach the world of retroreflectors. For those who already know them and want a further piece to add to the kit, I would go on much more noble brands (even if finding well-functioning "vintage" pieces at non-inflated prices is a great challenge ...). Overall, the greatest value of this lens lies in the ability to train those who approach manual focus (because it drives you crazy!), developing the sensitivity necessary for fine adjustments. And then, secondly, but not least, in the possibility it offers to look differently at subjects that perhaps we often take for granted, especially when what is out of focus takes on the nice donut shape! :)

Pros: Value for money, compactness

Cons: Insensitive focus adjustment, sharpness, adapter need

Opinion: Purchased for a few pennies, a precious lens was immediately detected in my Sony APS-C kit. The stabilized sensor of the a6500 allowed me some usability even without tripoid. I often paired it with a 2X teleconverter giving me an equivalent field angle of 1500mm (Photographed car number plates more than 1km away) The focus adjustment ring deserved a less soft mechanism and above all more multiplied, because a stable microregulation is impossible. The lack of sharpness is felt, but at that price what to expect from a catadiotic lens? Tripod practically obligatory. Very recommended for what it costs.

Pros: Definitely the price, the construction seems solid, absolutely fun.

Cons: Image quality does not excel, easy micromox ..... but we're talking about a super cheap 500. Remember the t-mount adapter to the camera format you are using.

Opinion: Lens definitely fun, 500mm for the price of a 50mm f/1.8 (it is only found used since it is out of production) and with a few euros you will find the duplicator, which however makes it even more difficult to handle, but it becomes a 1000mm .... practically a telescope. To be used exclusively on a good easel. Ring booke due to the mirror configuration of the catadiotter allows special light effects. All in all rather sturdy construction. I mounted it on the EOS R with EF adapter - t-mount over the RF EF adapter of the R, both with contacts, the machine goes into crisis.... for the benefit of anyone just insert a piece of tape to isolate contacts between the 2 rings and of course Set the "release of the limiter without goal" in the menu C.Fn5. Absolutely recommended for those who want to try such long optics without spending a capital..... if then the experiment likes you can easily think of buying a lens from "thousand and a thousand" euros .... After all, the investment is palious

Pros: Compact and lightweight (in relation to the focal) - solid construction - Price - blurred (disengagement between the focal planes)

Cons: Limited use to static subjects

Opinion: Had in test x a week - use a Canon 1dIII from the fantastic optical viewfinder and are accustomed to using optical MF from fish eye to medium telephoto - contrary to what I thought, the optical quality and '+ that dignified and in any case it is the last problems --- the maf, without the use of a tripod and live view and 'practically impossible, x want the shallow depth of field due to the long focal length, but particularly because of the maf ring, smooth and precise but with too short a ride x 'optical requiring maf millimeter (especially for distances less than 10 meters) - said that, with static subjects and a lot of patience, gives good shots, (conventional optical views do worse), with the characteristic of offer a break between the focal planes "monstrous" (my 400 f. 5.6 pales in comparison) ---- returned xche 'x my kind of shots (freehand or monopod) was unusable

Pros: Price, sharpness, color

Cons: Manual focus (if you can call a counter) - need to use the adapter

Opinion: I bought it during a solar eclipse and the eclipse of lunarnUn great lens for me, even "fun" to use the manual focus, aperture and aperture fissirnrnOvviamente I consider it necessary to use a tripod. Ah, if you decide to buy it, do not forget adapter (both canon for nikon)
