Pros: 1) design 2) build quality 3) solidity, robustness, impact and weather resistance 4) image quality (in various color types and in black & w) 5) very effective HDR 6) full instruction manual in English on the Ricoh European Imaging website (great thing)

Cons: 1) ISO greater than 125 give results that I don't like 2) default settings of the dial and buttons 3) I don't see the usefulness of the GPS 4) lack of direct Wi-Fi connection with smartphone, special SD card is required

Opinion: PROS: 1) the design is very nice 2) the perceived build quality and solidity are remarkable, especially for a camera of this price. 3) Image, color and b&w quality: once the "quick menu" has been set by changing the function of the "ADJ" (originally direct video recording button) and "green" (originally reset settings button) buttons... hard for me to understand what it's for in a camera without SAM functions...), you can have direct access and control over 6 favorite functions (which you can choose from a list). I chose a) exposure correction b) iso c) color d) highlight correction e) shadow correction, on the "ADJ" button, and f) White Balance, on the "green button". Since with isos greater than 125 I couldn't get photos with the level of definition I wanted, I chose to keep the iso almost always at 125. With this fixed setting and changing all the other parameters with the functions listed above, I was able to get more than satisfactory photos in most cases, sometimes even very very beautiful, all up to dusk and the first sunset. After that I experimented with both P with high iso, the night scene handheld (always high iso), and "candlelight" but I was not satisfied with the result. I then experimented with the night function with a tripod that works at low iso and with times up to 4 seconds (the other scenes tested instead stop at 1/4 of a second by default) and, having a tripod or a fixed support, the results were interesting even in night photos. I haven't tried the other scenes yet (HDR yes). I feel I have to point out that I really liked all the color modes and b&w and I think the camera is able to take good photos even in "street photography", even if it is not my branch. I have the orange/copper metallic model (it was the only one available at the moment) which is very flashy - useful perhaps for divers. For street photographers, and all those who like discretion, I think the black model is far more suitable. Sharpness, saturation, contrast are also adjustable, and image quality enhancement can be activated. You can print the date on the photo. 4) the HDR scene is very effective: amazing results. Among the scenes there are also three types of interspersed photos/videos, a portrait mode, etc. Excellent and intuitive level. The videos are good, and the SR+ stabilization, with a slight magnification, is very effective. There's also simple SR stabilization. In general, after patiently studying and translating the manual into English (a language I don't know) page by page, I managed to get very beautiful photos and I'm satisfied. The first few days though I was quite disappointed... because I didn't like (and don't like) the default settings of the machine at all. CONS: 1) The mode dial has the "CALS" mode in the first place. 2) The "macro" mode (symbol: microscope) turns on all the front LEDs of the machine by default ... and is placed before U1, U2 and video ... Which means that, to access these last 3 ways, I have to either switch to the macro and turn on all the front lights, or I have to turn off the car, turn the dial and then turn the car back on. ... 3) Keys: one button is entirely and indelibly dedicated to GPS. 4) You can't send photos to smartphones, except with a special SD card. Ultimately, I'm satisfied. Beautiful photos and it's nice to photograph in the rain without worries. That's what I was hoping for. Update 04/02/24 ... Full manual in English pdf now available on the ricoh imaging European website. Great thing. I'm re-studying it all from the 1st page. Thank you Ricoh for your attention! Of course, the manuals are available in many other languages, not only Italian.
