Pros: Amazing image quality, true pocketability, analog feel, solid construction, total discretion.
Cons: autonomy to be improved, lack of viewfinder (but you understand the meaning).
Opinion: The GR IIIx isn't just a camera – it's a state of mind. It's the one you keep in your pocket even when you think you don't want to photograph, and instead something is calling you. Shoot in an instant, with a dry and silent shot, you feel invisible. The 40mm forces you to look better, to choose, to tell. It is a human, natural, discreet gaze. Snap focus is practical poetry: you set the distance and shoot at the right time, without thinking. It never puts you between you and reality, on the contrary, it accompanies you like a silent accomplice. The files are beautiful, full, malleable, and have that flavor that resembles film: if not for the appearance, for the way they lead you to experience photography. The only real limit is the battery, which lasts a short time, but a spare one in your pocket is enough. No viewfinder, but honestly I don't miss it. GR is a philosophy: essential, fast, always ready. For me it has become the camera of everyday life, of truth. And when I come home with a photo that speaks to me, I know that she was there, silently, in my pocket. In short, for those who really love to photograph, it is a small jewel. |
