Pros: very decent sharpness across the range, both at short distances and infinity, almost no distortion (except at 14 mm)

Cons: no obvious weakness (which is a feat itself for a 10x zoom)

Opinion: I inherited this zoom together with the corresponding Lumix GH1. I had no big expectations as the lens is 15 years old by now and so far, no zoom beyond 4x really convinced me. I took it with me on my Olympus OM-D on a day trip to Alsace. When looking at the pictures on the big screen at home, I was surprised I could not see any relevant difference in overall quality to my much used Panasonic 14-42 mm 3,5-5,6 II. This is quite something as this lens is so far the best of the light weight standard zooms for Micro 4/3 I used so far (and I have tried all versions of the Oly 14-42 mm zooms incl the EZ, and the first version of the Lumix 14-42 mm). What struck me most: The pictures of subjects at moderate distances around 1 m or so were all very contrasty and vibrant. Hence, I made a small test at home photographing newspaper at 50 cm distance - the 14-42 mm could not hold a candle compared to this lens in this test - both edge sharpness and distortion were much better with this 14-140. In the tele range it is also very decent - up to 80 mm it competes very well with the Lumix 45-175 mm, it is only at 100 mm and above that this well regarded tele lens has a slight edge. Conclusion: A very well rounded 10x zoom without any relevant weakness - I gave a vote of 10 when comparing it to all other super zooms I used so far. Comparing it to standard zooms I would still rate it 9, and as a tele zoom I would rate it 8. Highly recommended at current used prices.
