Pros: Aesthetically beautiful, economical, very light, 20 mpx sensor suitable for any situation, excellent stabilization, built-in flash, with many PRO functions that other brands do not even have on flagships

Cons: For its price category, none

Opinion: I state that I have all the M10s from the mk 1 to this mk IV. I also own, or have owned, almost everything Olympus, from the 3 mpx camedia to the various Tough to the M5 M1 and OM1, I know the brand deeply and I feel great about it, even if I own reflex and mirrorless bodies of almost all brands. But let's come to this fourth version of the M10. The first thing I would like to say is that it is aesthetically so beautiful that I decided to sell the PenF (now that the M10 also has a 20 mpx sensor ... I decided to take the step even with a bit of melancholy). I've been using it all week with its Pancake lens and I have to say that it's an absolutely perfect match. I put it to the test with difficult shots for an entry level M43 (total backlight with sun in the frame, or in very low light contexts) and the result has always convinced me. The lens has very small blue ghosts when the sun is inside the frame, but I find it normal. The files that this sensor produces are, for me, excellent and workable with LR. If you really want to give a denoise pass ok, but only when you really need it (like at 6400 iso). The machine is mainly aimed at those who want to go out lightly and carefree. EXCELLENT automatically for the beginner or the advanced user who knows what in optimal light conditions does not want to break the boxes with various corrections, especially with the 14 42 lens which on the M43 is not that allows who knows what vicissitudes. PDC is what it is, so.... However, I must say that in addition to the usual PASM Scene Art selectors, this M10 has a section called AP within which you can find Pro functions such as Focus Bracketing, Keystone correction, exposure bracketing, panorama, double HDR exposure, and the Olympus Live Time functions and the beautiful Live Comp Machine therefore very suitable for both beginners and advanced amateurs. It made me fall in love :)

Pros: MFT sensor of the latest generation, great image quality, excellent stabilization, great variety of settings and customizations, silent shutter, built-in flash, olympus aesthetics, lightness, exceptional quality / price ratio.

Cons: Not tropicalized (but there are other models for this).

Opinion: Photographer since 1974, I had a Zenit-B weighed 1 Kg. but it was a giant with feet of clay. This E-M10 IV is a feather (power of polycarbonate) but lightness is not synonymous with fragility. I made comparisons with photos taken with the Sony A7 II with 28-70 and this E-M10 IV with 12-32 Panasonic. Without going into detail: he wins the E-M10 with 12-32 on all fronts. I'm not interested in photographing at more than 1600 ISO nor am I interested in the infamous Bokeh. I am seriously considering abandoning the FF.

Pros: Lightness, responsiveness, customization, cost

Cons: Battery/sd flap uncomfortable

Opinion: I state that this review comes only after two weeks of use, but after having used Nikon for years, and now having a Z6 II that I got tired of carrying with me in every situation, I wanted to try Olympus to flank my "flagship" and to use in trips out of town. I must say that I found only positive sides, reactive, a good sensor, lots of technology, fast autofocus, excellent face recognition (even compared to my Z6 II), light and bright optics (I have flanked it with a 17mm f1.8). Another thing I liked is the presence of the flash that, if used sparingly... it is not as destructive as it is always depicted; after all it is possible to use it manually, and to lighten some shadows it can be convenient. Then if you really don't like it just don't use it, but at least you can select it! As for the menu at the moment I do not feel like reviewing it since I have been used to Nikon for years and now I have entered into that logic. For the moment it seems less immediate, but still there is a lot of stuff, and the possibility of customizing the buttons is a lot. The only thing that did not make me crazy from the first minute is the door of the battery compartment / sd that I find an uncomfortable and risicato hair, but we are really talking about "nothing". Excellent instead the choice not to have a charger in the box and if you want it you buy it ... how many mobile phone chargers do we have at home and that we do nothing about it? I imagine that for those who have already had other Olympus or from an ecological point of view this is the best solution. As for me, not having other Olympus I had to buy one, so consider that if you want it original it takes about 60 euros, otherwise with 20 euros you buy it of other brands. Alternatively you can obviously charge it with the USB that comes in the box.

Pros: Image quality, endless menu, instinctive adjustments, excellent finishes (except for one detail), stabilization at the top.

Cons: Menu with a difficult-to-understand logic (a characteristic typical of Olympus); cover cover usb sockets really miserable.

Opinion: Although the body is not metallic (I have the black version) in holding it you do not have the impression of a cheap camera at all, in fact you appreciate the feather weight and grip despite the small size. I was curious to see the upgrade compared to the previous 16mp sensor and contrary to what I read in the various reviews the difference is seen in all fields; since I have practically all the fixed m4/3 optics (not even a zoom) I realized that the limits, however high, that I detected in the previous configuration were due to the sensor and not to the optics. Even the 20mm pancake that is a bit of a handyman had an appreciable increase in resolution, with the same subject photographed. Like everyone else, I have my own points of reference. Normal lighting autofocus is fast, but not so slow in harsh conditions; funny the pursuit of the face, which I will not use. The controls are immediate and comfortable, but for Olympus it is nothing new. Until now I have not found that good, high wonders for the miserable gummy door (with only one hinged side, so opening it dangling like it was detaching, and I fear that after a little opening and closing it will detach) that covers the USB type sockets one of which must be used to charge the battery on board, but which I will never use having the original charger of the previous series. Really an inexplicable little mole in front of the other excellent finishes. Would I buy it back? Of course, especially since I bought a plaster from a genius who took the body+zoom bundle in kits and resold the body: how to buy a car to keep the tires. But as long as there are people like that, I live happy.
