Pros: Aperture, build quality, sharpness, one-click manual maf, image quality, 34mm equivalent focal length

Cons: Lack of lens hood, not tropicalized

Opinion: I've owned this lens for quite some time and I can only speak well of it, it gives really sharp images with a pleasant contrast, the build quality is really good, totally made of metal, mounted on a small camera like the Panasonic gx80 it gives more than good shots while maintaining almost negligible weights and dimensions. As per "tradition" Olympus lacks the lens hood and the lens is not tropicalized, as far as the lens hood is concerned, you can find compatible ones at very low prices. I've done a lot of trips carrying only this lens with me and the results obtained are above the most optimistic expectations from a lens of this size, of this price, so small and light. It's a lens that I love and that doesn't disappoint even in the video field given the silence of the focus and its relative precision and speed.

Pros: Dimensions, manual focus bezel.

Cons: There will always be sharper, lighter, brighter, cheaper lenses :-)

Opinion: I've been using it with satisfaction for a while. I used it with the em10 and I use it with the em1 MarkII . It is a 35 equivalent bright, with a decent blur, also good focus speed, I really like the switch to switch to manual ... It's compact, almost a pancake (it really fits in a pocket of comfortable pants). The construction is good, despite the use I made of it not a sign of wear... I used it mainly with the EM-10 with which it forms a compact and quality coupling. Excellent in general use, compared to 75 and 12-45 it returns colors a little colder, as if the white balance was always wrong in colder shades (however, obviously it is adjusted in post or by setting the jpegs properly). Many complain about the lack of the hood in the package, I rarely use them but in fact if you want to buy it it costs very expensive (in proportion to the cost of the lens) even if there are cheap sub-brands and it is not that the original gives you who knows what more .. to me it appeared very sharp, even at full aperture, like all Olympus lenses I had, even if it does not have that contrast typical of macros or that for example has the 12-45 ... In short, it will not be the top for landscapes but for a generalist use (as the focal recommends) it is excellent. I recommend all microfooterzists to try it because on the net there are often unexciting comments that in my opinion do not do justice to this beautiful lens, obviously if one is comfortable with this focal length ....

Pros: beauty, robustness,colors,autofocus

Cons: absence of the lampshed

Opinion: It is a fabulous lens, I still have to find defects, it has beautiful colors and a lightning autofocus. The Silver version is very particular and mounted on the two-tone bodies becomes even more beautiful. a lens that for my type of photography can be mounted on the machine body at least for 80% of situations. I absolutely recommend it.

Pros: Size, Ghiera Focus,sharpness,

Cons: Flare

Opinion: I love this lens, it's attached to my camera 90% of the time, maybe even 95. I appreciate it for its size; Portability has always been a strong point of Olympus cameras and lenses. Of course, in the pro line of the Japanese company's goals are not that small, for example the 17mm f/1.2 weighs 390g, which is not much compared to the canon 1.4 eqv which weighs as much as 760g, the point is that this 17mm f/1.8 weighs only 120. The differences with the older brother f/1.2 are there, and less bad given the price difference, but are these differences so important and obvious? For me, no, I would like to give up a bit of sharpness and brightness in favor of unparalleled portability. The quality of this lens is very good, it is quite sharp even at full opening. It is then built with sturdy materials and despite the barrels it has given here and shows no signs of wear or malfunction and for this reason I can definitely say that it is also reliable. Too bad only for flares that are sometimes annoying and for the lack of tropicalization, but you know, that is a feature that the company reserves for the PRO line. Another feature that I really appreciate is the dial for manual focus, on certain occasions I find it very comfortable to see with a glance the distances especially when I want to do street and I do not want to rely on the autofocus, which is good, but not 100% perfect. For professional jobs I bought the famous 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO, which is undoubtedly better in many respects. However it is much bulker than the 17mm which is in every way preferable for size and brightness. These are the motivations that motivate me to recommend this goal, I could safely sell the rest of the body slow and keep only this without me missing the other goals.

Pros: Focal, lightness, brightness, sharpness, autofocus, MaF's dial

Cons: For sale without paraluce (personally not a big flaw since I do not use it), stabilization not present (but present in the bodies Olympus machine)

Opinion: I've been using the 4/3 micro format for almost a year and I have to say that I really like it. I needed a 35mm equivalent as this is my favorite focal and this Olympus did not disappoint me in the slightest. Small, light, crisp and bright, this lens is the one I hold most attached to my machine body. It doesn't disappoint at full-time, retaining a great bokeh and excellent sharpness. I also love the maf's dial, with which you can select the manual MaF or the autofocus simply by pulling it up or down. The only flaw I have encountered is stabilization not present, since my machine body is a Panasonic that does not have the sensor stabilized, but it is nothing problematic, given the fairly short focus. In conclusion in my opinion it is a must have if you have a 4/3 micro set.
