Pros: Ergonomics, materials

Cons: Very good continuous autofocus, but of "old" generation.. The keeper rate is a bit "too" poor. Value of the second-hand, to cry for those who have to sell, but super convenient for those who have to buy

Opinion: After 5 years from the launch it can be found in mint condition for just over 800 euros (from official dealers!! ), while private individuals with 600 euros take it away .... to the delight of those who buy and the desperation of those who have to sell and find in their hands pieces of a system (OMsystem / Olympus) that is worth absolutely nothing on the market anymore ... Considering the type of camera and what it offers are really ridiculous figures, there is no other mirrorless apsc or FF that can compete, certainly not an a6600 with its monstrous lags or a reflex of twenty years ago on which you then have to put 2kg bricks ... Apart from the most recent OM1 (which are on another planet) it remains the most suitable micro 4/3 camera for action, but it still lends itself to do everything ... The quality of the file is very good up to 6400 ISO, the JPEGs are the most accurate compared to all the other Olympus, and the autofocus is equal to that of the EM1 III, with the addition of the recognition of the subjects, which however is not super effective, it is good just for static birds or animals. The ergonomics are fabulous, although personally over time I have started to appreciate more the small bodies without BG like that of the OM1, because I can no longer stand to carry heavy stuff on me ... The continuous autofocus is very good, even if like all the other micro 4/3 the keeper rate is poor, the focus jumps, dances and does somersaults at will, out of 10 photos of a burst at least half are to be thrown away .... In birdlife the situation worsens further, out of 10 you save one. That doesn't mean you won't take the photos home... it just means that in front of the PC you will have to waste a lot of time to go and check one by one all the photos of the bursts to choose the only good one and trash the other 100 ... Unfortunately the gap between the X (and all the others) with the OM1 is quite abysmal, both as regards the continuous autofocus, and for the speed and fluidity of the viewfinder during bursts, especially with low light, and as regards the quality of the file from 3200 ISO upwards, understood as signal-noise ratio and dynamic range. When with the X, in low light, you are already beyond the limit at 6400iso, with the OM1 you shoot without any problem and no post production at 12800iso. If you are looking for the highest quality and maximum performance in the micro 4/3 system at a professional level and in all conditions, then make a little effort and get a used OM1. anyway even that is as new at 1100 euros and by private individuals at 900 euros, since, as mentioned above, the system "economically" unfortunately is no longer worth anything ... But from the point of view of performance and results it is still worth it .... !! I repeat, in terms of dynamic and sports photography, the EM1 X, despite an AFC not at the top, still eats overall any R7 / a6600 / 6700 Z50 or xt4 / 5, even in terms of image quality .... And especially in the lens park you will have a great choice in used and at ridiculously low prices... The sensor and all the various functions in the camera, also allow you to take beautiful photos in other genres, even in landscape and portraiture

Pros: Tropicalization, ergonomics, buttons, responsiveness.

Cons: Holding at high ISO not comparable to om1 as well as af and total file quality. But still a valid machine.

Opinion: I use it as a forklift... As I use it to date, I do not complain about anything. The machine is very performing, the batteries last a long time and once understood .. As I always say, we can bring out the best in her. The viewfinder is not the best as we are used to today with the top range but it still does its job. The buttons and dials are outstanding. The file is very good, stabilization amazing. If I compare it to om1 is a couple of steps below... But this does not mean that it is a machine to be discarded, on the contrary. In my opinion up to 12,800 it is possible to pull out good photographs. With the artificial intelligence of Camera RAW we can in my opinion save many situations but also because the detail of the image remains. I'm not for the heavy and extreme post. But only improvements on noise. Or a style to create an image with an artistic signature. So I find the help of AI sensible. I would like to first make a definitive review, try it again for some time and then ... I will extend my experience hoping it will be of help to those concerned.

Pros: Ergonomics

Cons: Autofocus

Opinion: It's a camera in its own right... it was before and it is even now after the release of the OM-1. The ergonomics, the handle, the keys and the robustness remain the reference point and are missing from all the other olympus... For the rest the advantages are few, compared to the Marki offers a better jpeg and keeps the other lights in better range, and also has the recognition of the subjects (which however is quite "immature" and usable only in "easy" situations) Apart from this the autofocus is the same as the Marki, the identical operating speed, iso dynamic range hold practically the same (the markiii is cleaner and a wire less noisy, the X recovers the highlights better for 2/3 stop). The viewfinder is good, like that of the Markiii but larger, but unfortunately when you try the OM-1, the viewfinder of the X appears obsolete, very slow and jerky .... Like all other micro 4/3, until the output of the OM-1, the autofocus does not shine.... As long as the conditions are favorable and "easy" it's fine, but when the going gets tough the percentage of shots in focus drops.... With about 1200 euros but even less you find bodies as new, in that case it can be a great deal, otherwise for me it is no longer worth it ... In fact I kept the markiii, which offers identical performance but at half weight, and I replaced the X with the OM1.

Pros: Everything everything!!! Ergonomics at the top, excellent stabilization, tropicalized practically indestructible, light, file quality, very fast, held even at high iso, coupled with worthy lenses and a good flash gives emotions! OLYMPUS a guarantee...

Cons: I don't really know it's so perfect that... maybe to be fussy AF stay absent for the time being we hope in the next updates!

Opinion: Owner of the brand for many years also in analog and I can confirm its reliability. I have also had Leica and Pentax FF systems and many others in the past but the security that Olympus offers is unparalleled! He always manages not to disappoint expectations, making mistakes is practically impossible. This EM1X is the culmination of a dream of the house and at the moment none like her! Lightning for sporty and bird photos, quiet and discreet in the street (it certainly does not go unnoticed given the size). For astro photography it is in itself perfect although for now they have not implemented AF stars like younger sister EM1 mk3 (we hope in the next updates). The track feature blows you away is absurd! The magnesium alloy body is tropicalized and has gaskets ing everything where, where the other machines stop this one from the best of itself is a professional VERA! Stabilization allows you to lower iso and times and the final result will amaze you, not to be believed. Shoot at high resolution 50mpx freehand and 80mpx with the easel not to believe, a plus that not all houses offer. The file and its quality is indisputable. The jpeg that churns out is already perfect in itself, then if you want more there is always raw and post-production. The only drawback if we want to be picky is the viewfinder not really at the height of the machine body you could do better here... but it is an inetietic just to want to be picky! In conclusion, if you are looking for an indestructible machine body without sacrificing ergonomics and weight with file quality that has nothing to envy to FF, in fact, this is the one for you! Try to believe... thank you Olympus!!!

Pros: Construction, ergonomics, reliability, innovative features, IQ

Cons: not for everyone

Opinion: The OM-D E-M1X is a true professional, the first true uncompromising professional in the Micro43 world. It is a machine for those who want the best from this system and do not need to relax from their professional micro kit. ergonomics is fantastic, a glove in hand; even after hours and hours of use. The viewfinder is excellent, the best on the series and also compared to the direct competition: although I become "only" 2 million pixels the quality and fluidity and size make it perfect even for intensive and prolonged use. The file is the most beautiful and full-bodied in the OMD series and is the best IQ in the system. AF, speed, reliability and top of the category. at the current promotional market price is a real bargain for those looking for the best of the Micro43 world, and not only that, honestly.
