Pros: Dimensions, weight, olympus color rendering, live view, today's used price.

Cons: dynamic range, 3 AF points (depending on the case), low resolution of the display, a bit cumbersome in the use in live view, optical park (but here a reasoning must be made).

Opinion: Initially intrigued by the E-300 model, not finding an agreement with the seller, I opted for this model. Purchased in November 2022 for 150 euros, complete with all packaging, box 2 kit lenses (14-42 and 40-150) and 4GB CF memory, really a ridiculous amount for a photographic tool. What can I say... I was pleasantly surprised, especially for the rendering of the Olympus colors. The size is also a strong point of this camera, which although SLR, is just bigger than a mirrorless (it is not much bigger than my X-T1). Of course, there are some defects, especially given by age. Things like the display and AF, are those of a camera of 15 years ago, nevertheless it still lets itself be used. The dynamic range instead, compared to other models of the same period is a bit lacking, especially in the recovery of highlights. So in high contrast situations, it is best to operate with multiple exposures where possible. The only 3 AF points can be a limit, but more for dynamic genres. On more static genres such as landscape, you don't particularly feel the limit. Excellent thing the fact of having the live view, just a pity that in use it is a bit cumbersome. That is, you can not have the grid and the histogram on display, but once in live view you have a sort of 4 predefined sequential modes. The first with all the info, where you can set the iso, AF mode, WB, etc; another with the grill; one with the histogram; one for focus picking. And being these in sequence, if I am using focus picking and I want to return to the histogram, I can not go directly, but I have to go forcibly, for the other 2 modes that are there before. Yes... In the end just click 3 times a button, nothing transcendental, but it remains a bit annoying. Another point, which could be negative is that of the optical park. Yes, because for mount 4/3, there are not many optics to choose from, and being a little widespread system, there is also little availability of the most valuable optics. But here a certain reasoning must be made, in my opinion I strongly doubt, that today someone can buy these cameras, to make them his main kit. Rather those like me will buy them, they enjoy using the old digital and collecting them and I can guarantee you that already the kit lenses, although they are plastics, still have a more than decent photographic yield. If you also add a 70-300, which you can easily find for figures under 200 euros, you have a photo set, which covers an equivalent focal length from 28mm to 600mm and that allows you to have fun doing a bit of everything. In conclusion, like most old cameras, it remains a tool for conscious users. Nevertheless, it allows you to have great satisfactions.

Pros: excellent price-quality ratio, weight and perfect size! Also good performance with no optical Olympus!

Cons: Low screen resolution, autofocus in low light suffers a little while the viewfinder may be slightly more comfortable.

Opinion: It 's my first SLR and I'm still learning how to take pictures well done! I'm finding great and gives me a lot of satisfaction, except for the many mistakes committed by me as a beginner. The disadvantages mentioned above are perhaps not real defects of the car, as the production year and my little experience in the matter, unless the autofocus. As the car I would say it's really nice! Excellent entry level but also good for the average users / senior who want to try something different. I would be curious to test it with higher-level optics
