Juan

Pros: Image quality, built in flash, ...

Cons: Missing 1/8000sec

Opinion: The lowest ISO is 100. The shortest shutter speed is 1/4000. This together is a limiting factor - especially for the people who like talking pictures with open aperture. The touch elements on the display do not really make sense, buttons would be a lot better - especially when you use the viewfinder and fokus manually. The camera is great for using legacy lenses. Some things could be nicer, but nothings prevents from taking great pictures.

Pros: Excellent image quality, dynamic range, lightness, ergonomics, high ISO seal, Jpg quality, excellent kit optics.

Cons: Lack of stabilizer, front buttons not very usable.

Opinion: Extraordinary camera, it offers an impressive image quality even with the kit lenses (16-50 and 50-250). With lenses such as af-s 16-80 f/2.8-4 VR and Af-s 70-200 f/2.8 VR and the FTZ adapter delivers images worthy of a professional camera for sharpness, dynamic range and quality of detail. A small jewel that also allows lovers of the APS-C (DX) format to enter the mirrorless world of Nikon Z, which really represents a step forward compared to the Nikon D in many respects. The size and some features (such as the minimum time of 1/4000s and the inability to use a handle) are from an entry level camera, but all the other functions (from bracketing up to 9 frames, to customizing the functions, to the burst of 11 frames per second) place it more among the semi-pros! The latest generation 20mpx CMOS sensor, the expeed VI processor and the protection against the weather make it a light, versatile, compact travel companion, excellent in every situation and the optics of the Kit allow you to meet 90% of the needs of a medium-evolved amateur photographer! Personally, I am very satisfied with this. Rating: 9.5

Pros: Image quality. Ergonomics for photographers (think about it). Small. Optical qualities available. ISO seal . Dynamic Range.

Cons: Optical quantities available. Sensor not stabilized (not for me)

Opinion: If you are looking for a small camera but capable of churning out good quality files, this Z50 you have to evaluate. It grips well (it reminds me of the Olympus OMD em 1mk 1-2 that I had), it is well done, it has keys that can be customized, two rings, the dedicated ISO button, exposure compensation both callable by a dedicated button, both on a wheel when working in priority, lightning fast focus in AFS, in AFC I still have to check because for the type of photo I do it has never served me and then I am used to Sony A7III and comparisons are difficult to make (even if now the A7III is throwing away... :-) ). I compared the files it returns with those of the XT3 (which I had), and I do not think it is inferior to this (indeed), true that the Fuji JPGs are a separate philosophy, but those of this Z50 are beautiful and can certainly suffice as they are produced by the machine. Raw files are full of information and workable, the tightness at high ISO is amazing and you can bring the histogram to the right to "ISO sound" and retrieve from the lights all the details you need (if we have not burned them ...) At low ISOs, when you ree the exposures or when they are particularly contrasted, from the shadows you recover details in a surprising way. Of course it is better to try it for yourself, but I am convinced that you will be surprised. The sensor is not stabilized, here those who say that vintage or third-party non-stabilized optics are then difficult to use may be right. True, but I just need the dedicated optics that are excellent and adequate to make this machine a light and performing tool for all occasions where I prefer little weight (climbing, trekking, cross-country skiing, MTB). The 16-50 in kit is amazing! It has only one slot, amen, I'll make it enough. The battery does not last long, amen I buy another one. On the video side, I do not pronounce as I do not do it, I do not know the parameters and I do not know what to say about it. Vote 9, maybe it deserves something more, but 10 I gave only to Bo Derek...

Pros: Good file quality, small, ergonomic.

Cons: lack of some buttons and generally small, the AF could be better, the stabilizer is missing, poor battery.

Opinion: What about this which is Nikon's first APS-C camera of the Z system. For me it is excellent I am very satisfied, although it is not perfect. It holds very well in its hand, it has a viewfinder that does its duty (I can not make comparisons with emblazoned viewfinders), complete with everything, I only miss the stabilizer being accustomed with Olympus that now implements it forever. Fortunately, the stabilizer of the two kits is exceptional and compensates well for this lack. I would therefore say that it does everything excellently, only the AF is not of the infallible ones, especially tracking. To zoom in or out it has virtual keys on the screen and for me this is a pretty silly lack. Another flaw is the battery, of relatively short duration, I recommend the purchase of a second. The files are excellent and even the Jpeg disabling the noise reduction filter (which unlike other brands is totally disabled) can be used safely up to 6400 iso having a dry grain and keeping the details. I notice this when I photograph my children indoors without flash, at 6400 iso I see the noise, but I also see the fine details of the hair, not the usual watercolor details. The WB is also excellent with artificial light and the profile in the camera of the Jpeg (the film) has many settings and you can achieve interesting results. Would I buy it again? Absolutely yes, absolutely with the double kit, two exceptional lenses (do not call them kits of which they only have the brightness) and that go very well both aesthetically and ergonomically with the camera. Who don't I recommend it to? For those looking for the super AF (better perhaps look at the Sony APS-C), a massive body, or at least Pro features, since this body although complete is designed to fit into the old band of the D5xxx.
