Pros: Metal, saturated colors, contrast

Cons: An external exposure meter is needed

Opinion: Old-fashioned all-glass and metal lens made in Japan. Sharp saturated colors already at full aperture 72mm lens diameter is a display piece. For architectural photos it is the non plus ultra, it allows you to take and ponder the result well, it is for reflection and meditation. The peculiarity of the lens is that the diaphragm coupling is frontal with a double ring, which allows you to view the image at full aperture and then move it at the time of shooting.... This is why it leads us to reflect. The exif data on the aperture, for this reason, is not recorded on the SLR. The "shift" of the lens, which rotates 360 degrees on the lens, allowing any type of movement, changes the exposure times and an external exposure meter is required, I use the Gossen Lunasix 3S which gives excellent results. It is now easily found in the used since perspective correction with Photoshop solves a lot... But it is still not the same thing. In the age of AI, it's nice to do everything "physically" and without too much help from technology... Also used for landscapes, it has very contrasting colors and a good yield. The bokeh is not pleasant, but after all it is a lens that starts at f/3.5...It amazes in the results... For focusing, DSLRs now give a valuable help. If you are a lover of architecture or "real" lenses, not plastic or made in China, once used it will be an object to be kept with care and to be used with extreme pleasure.

Pros: Construction, size and weight content, versatility, optical quality

Cons: No exif data

Opinion: Beautiful lens for me. The construction is something wonderful. The possibility of shift makes it perfect for architectural photos and panoramas obtained through the stitching of multiple photos made by shift. From f5.6 to f8 the sharpness is good and homogeneous from the center to the edges. Through the live view it is possible to always have an optimal view of the scene without the darkening due to shifting and zooming and/or with focus peaking the manual focus is easy. I find it a great choice for travel, panorama and architecture. The yield is more contrasting than the Af-d series, but the thing in architecture and landscape comes in handy. For the price at which you find a good used, it's worth it. If you also need tilt and clutter and weight are not a problem, the Nikon 24 mm ts is optically better and costs 5 times as much.

Pros: excellent construction, general yield, shift, colors

Cons: more macrocontrast (in some situations a little too much) than microcontrast, chromatic aberration, mild distortion, but hat. It doesn't have the tilt (but I don't care)

Opinion: It's a fantastic lens to go out and take architectural photos: small, light and mechanically built very well, all pure metal and glass. It is very easy to use and, compared to straightening in postproduction, has the huge advantage of seeing and managing straight lines directly to the crosshairs and not after on a monitor. For these undoubted advantages there are some small prices to pay. The most important is that the lens has a very slight but non-linear distortion, which is more difficult to delete in post also because it changes depending on the millimeters of shift. The second is that it has a bit of a chromatic aberration, easier to delete in posts. The third defect, very relative, is that it was designed 40 years ago and on the so-called dense sensors it trudges a little, although it always comes out worthy thanks to the general contrast that makes the images still enjoyable. Obviously it should be used from f/8 onwards, but it is not a problem for the specific use of the lens. Here is a picture example on a7rII, processed by jpg for reasons of time. https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=3404205

Pros: metal

Cons: in relation to the price none

Opinion: Japanese metal early 80's. Precise and handy ferrules. will be exceeded as a lens but for 50 euros with a lot of caps and UV filter is a bargain. I'm testing it both in digital and in film but it seems to me already clear that like every lens Ais will give the best of itself at 5.6 even if good already at TA. I love these lenses. if I find them in good condition at these prices I can not not take them. among other things, compared to the brighter versions, it is very competitive because already good at TA while it seems (KenRockel) that other models brighter to TA do not respond well, so it is worth having f3.5 and pay less loooong. On 24 and 35 I will try to gain something in brightness but in this lens it does not bother me 3.5
