Opinion: the 28 mm is my favorite focal length, and I find this version an excellent compromise between quality, weight and price, waiting for Nikon to produce a 28 mm of a higher level than the current 2.8. I have used it both on Z6I and II, D610, and in film on F5 and it works very well with all systems (and that's no small thing!). I'm not talking about microcontrast, hyperdetail and chromatic aberrations, just one click is enough to fix everything in post. But the real plus of this lens in my opinion is the rendering of colors in any light condition, the three-dimensionality is really high it has a very nice cinematic bokeh for a wide angle. Even in low light in the shadows it is excellent, it records everything. I have used it a lot in reportage, it is an excellent all-rounder, for quality, price and weight ratio 10.

Opinion: I was thrilled with it until I loved it on the D3x or D750. I'm trying it these days on the D800 and there many limitations of this optics have emerged: at full aperture it is very subject to chromatic aberration (like almost all the lenses in the world), it becomes decidedly soft and - who knows why - sometimes bicks with the AF of the D800 itself. Up to 5.6 it remains soft at the edges, then luckily it corrects itself and becomes much more even. Maybe I'm finding trivial things that also apply to other Nikon lenses, but really its ideal size seems to be that of 24 mpx, where you notice less the differences center-edges to the more open apertures. In any case, it does its job and remains a valid complement to SLR cameras with less definition.
