Pros: Construction,size,colors,general performance,robustness, aesthetics, simplicity,2.8

Cons: Flare, at the corners

Opinion: I've been pointing it out for a while, trying to get as much info as possible about it. Unfortunately, it is not a famous lens and on the web the info is not many... Found used, but in very good condition at a very advantageous price. I liked it right away, because it covers excellent focal points for my needs. It's a 2.8. it does not have electronics that makes it delicate, in my view it is aesthetically beautiful, it is part of the VERI Nikon. It took me a while to appreciate it. As soon as I arrived, I was disappointed. The first pictures/evidence, it was a total crap!! Then I realized that the very swinging yield, was due to a slight Back Focus. After correcting, the optics changed character. At 2.8, the yield is good in the middle, but as soon as you deviate its sides, the definition drops a lot until you get to be almost nothing at the extreme edges and, above all, at the corners. From f4 you have, on the other hand, a marked improvement.... From 5.6 and up, it gets awesome. There are ACEs, which accentuate the problems to large openings, but just a click to solve the problem. Excellent the absence of distortion, which at 20mm is almost nothing. I really like his surrender. Soft tones and shadows never closed and the colors are quite faithful. The only defect absolutely impossible to tame, are the flares.... Unmanageable. If the sun enters the frame, they are all bitter zebedei, because the flares are there, there are many and they are well present. And ugly too!! The construction is great. Glass and (most) metal. There's no point in electronics, so there's nothing to break. The dials are well taken and the front lens does not protrude. It's not a modern optic, so that's it.... Except perfect. But it's part of those optics that had a character of their own. It has to be understood. And in any case, he absolutely knows how to deliver great results. Do I recommend it? Yes. Absolutely!!

Pros: Construction, robustness, price of the used.

Cons: Nothing particularly for my use

Opinion: Found at low price and matched to the 300d.. With the APSC of course you lose the wide angle effect but it turns into the classic lens handyman with the advantage of having a high brightness and in my opinion a contrast in the incredible photos. Always paired with APSC there is the advantage that you do not use the peripheral edges of the lens because of the smallest sensor for which the sharpness is by reference. Thinking about how much I paid him I regret just not having found it before

Pros: -More than satisfactory focal length excursion (I 20mm for me are the perfect wide angle)-sturdy construction-sharpness from F/8 to F/11-well-balanced-77mm filters

Cons: -Uncomfortable lens hood, you can take it off and put it only without cap on the lense-minimum distance of MAF too high-flare with strong backlight-a f/2.8 is not very engraved, improves from F/4 up

Opinion: I was initially oriented for the 17-35, tested by my retailer, but just after a few shots I noticed the flaws typical of that optics (MAF uncertain and whistling) and then I folded for this 20-35 and I have not regretted it at all. No flaw, no hesitation, it runs great and generates excellent images. The 20 mm are perfect for me, and the ability to mount filters from 77 is an essential prerogative. The sunburst is one of the nicest I've ever seen. The only drawback are the flare, not always simple to manage, but despite everything even with the direct sun in the frame the image does not lose contrast, and this is a big advantage. In my opinion here Nikon has baked a real gem, and has taught canon and other brands how to produce wide-angle quality..

Pros: Granite Construction, perfect focal length excursion, optically egregious

Cons: For the reference price nothing

Opinion: Nikon's old-fashioned optics, had and of which I immediately appreciated the robustness. The focal range from 20 to 35 allows to contain the dimensions and the use of crazy systems to reach ultra wide-angle focal lengths. This allows an excellent image quality from 24mm to 35mm. Unfortunately at the minimum focal length of 20mm the aberrations are several, and on sensors already from 24mpx the sharpness from mid frame to the edges is not satisfactory. Optic Born for film, you can not ask too much in terms of optical rendering. For the price of about €300 is definitely a purchase to think about. Would I recommend it compared to 17-35 2.8? I'm not sure, also because now there are some specimens at really low prices, and the difference in quality is remarkable. Good possibility to assemble filters of human size. It certainly can't compare with the newly-produced super-wide angles and production, but for a low budget kit, it can be a great choice to get the focal lengths from 0 to 50 without a major expense.

Pros: Old-fashioned construction, minimal distortion, bright, excellent focal excursion

Cons: Full-open sharpness on digital

Opinion: Great wide-angle, compact, done properly, not very sharp with full-open digital bodies but quite correctable in post, perfect focal excursion with minimal distortion and very little vignette (on D3s) speed in af enough for the type of optics mounted on pro body, bright, makes shots with unsaturated colors, if you find one bought, I always keep it in the bag, it is compact and robust, I use it mainly to photograph podiums, but also for panoramic or street is a great lens ...
