Pros: Weight and overall dimensions contained to the maximum, convenient separate access to the equipment compartment and the predisposition for the transport of the tripod, tablet compartment with predisposition hole for passage hydration bag tube.

Cons: The hole for the passage of the hydration bag tube is too small and does not allow the passage of the mouthpiece of my model (solved by leaving the compartment hinge open one centimeter). The Velcro strips for fixing trekking poles are impractical (replaced with classic carabiners).

Opinion: I purchased this backpack to carry the equipment in the cabin as hand luggage when I travel by plane and for short daily excursions/trekking. With my previous backpack (a modest Forclaz 20 of Decathlon) I have always been fine but I lacked the predisposition for the transport of the tripod and a convenient separate opening that would allow me to directly access the photographic equipment without having to empty the backpack every time. With this Lowepro I fully met these needs, which I was able to test in the field during my recent trip to Patagonia. For example, at first glance the shoulder straps did not seem particularly well padded but, probably also thanks to its modest volume, my fears were completely infodata, indeed: in the long treks in which I used it (long for me, about 20km) I found the backpack very comfortable and the available adjustments proved to be more than enough. It is not my need but, if desired, to access the photographic equipment, you can also remove a single shoulder strap and thus open the dedicated compartment without having to place the backpack on the ground. It is obvious but, of course, what is its main advantage (weight and volume contained) is also the main limit of this backpack: the compartment for the hydration bag contends the space to the internal compartment, as well as that for the transport of the tripod, the internal compartment contends it to that for photographic equipment and so on. The lower compartment (the one dedicated to transporting the equipment) proved to be sufficient for my kit (m4/3), consisting of an Olympus M1mkII + 3 lenses (Panasonic 8-18 f/2.8-4.0, Olympus 25 f/1.8 and Olympus 40-150mm f/4-5.6 R). The upper compartment is enough for a sweatshirt, some snak and, if you want, a filter case or a little more. There is an internal pocket for memory card/batteries and a small cloth for cleaning the front lens, another compartment on the 'lid' of the backpack is sufficient for a front flashlight, the remote release cable or other small accessories. On the outside there is a pocket (without closure) that I used to store things that I was interested in accessing quickly (such as cap, gloves, neck guard, etc.). On the other hand, I did not find the kit of laces and padded containers supplied with the backpack particularly useful or valuable: in fact, I immediately removed the padding of the lower compartment and I placed my usual rain cover of the pants on the bottom, as padding (the objectives instead I always keep them inside neoprene bags, as usual with the previous backpack). In this way I recovered precious centimeters of space. Excellent integrated rainproof cover that adheres perfectly (attention that in case of strong wind this feature is very important to prevent the cover from acting like a sail!) and even after a day under water the backpack was perfectly dry. The backpack is valid but, of course, I recommend it only to those who have an m4/3 kit (or in any case very compact) and need to contain weights and dimensions to the maximum without sacrificing the practicality and quality that a brand of excellence like Lowepro can guarantee even with this range of entry level products.
