Pros: Sharpness, Versatility, Quality, Price
Cons: Weight, Overall dimensions, Screwing 86mm filters
Opinion: After trying an XCD V series lens and also the 20-35E XCD, I finally got the great 35-100E. Compared to V lenses, E lenses are sharper and more resistant to flare and coma at the edges. The quality is very high, as well as the perfection of sharpness when you open the photo on the computer at 100% zoom. The only flaw of this lens is its weight and size, but after all it is a zoom and you can't expect something impossible. At the focal length of 35mm, we also have a maximum aperture of f/2.8, so the size of the lens and its weight are also due to this factor. The screw filters is 86mm, but with the step-down adapter ring 86-82mm you can use the screw filters and or jetmag pro with great success and practicality. Compared to the 20-35E it seems to me that it suffers slightly more from flare, and even here, the reason is the slightly brighter aperture, but overall containable and absolutely manageable even in post. The star on the lights when closing the diaphragm is the same 8-point as that of the 20-35E, very fine and discreet. In my opinion, this zoom lens is the only possible option to V fixed lenses if you want some zoom and versatility in the field. To be able to use it successfully on tripods, even vertically and without having problems of vibrations and forward imbalances, I recommend the Bracket of the "Smallrig Half-moon horizontal-vertical mounting plate kit 4349". Also the price, I have to say not bad, because with little more than what a V lens costs, here it's like having 3 lenses in one, so in the Hasselblad world, it's absolutely worth the price. I am a landscape painter, and a technician of the static, reasoned and tripod image, but I have also tried to take some freehand portraits of my dog and I must say that the blur is very pleasant. I have always been a user of fixed lenses, and I have always hated lenses such as the classic 24-70 to do landscape, in this case I was in quotes "forced", but I must say that I am very satisfied with its final result. |
