Pros: Sharpness, Flare Resistance, Zoom Lens, No Coma in the edges, Excellent star on the lights
Cons: If you can call it a defect, it's just a bit expensive, otherwise it doesn't have an Achilles' heel
Opinion: After buying it and trying it for a while, and after also comparing it with the 38mm fixed V series (thanks to Foto Ema and Fowa), I can only say that this lens is perfect, and has no flaws. Despite being a zoom lens with variable MM, the 20-35 E series, is probably the best wide-angle zoom lens for landscape photography in the world. The only sore point is the price, if you can call it that. Compared to the Full-frame world, if mounted on Hasselblad X series, it becomes the equivalent of a 16-28mm and this is a record, because before the creation of this lens, in the Hasselblad XCD world, there was nothing from the house, which reached up to real 16mm and with a bright aperture of f/3.2, this was one of the main reasons that convinced me to finally make the transition to medium format. The 20-35, despite being a unique lens with its many facets, is not at all bulky like the classic top-of-the-range wide-angles, has both a discreet weight and shape and carries well even in a backpack. Its resistance to flare and chromatic aberrations is exceptional, more or less comparable to the very large Sony 12-24 f/2.8 G Master. Sharpness, help me say disarming, with absolute absence of coma in the edges. It doesn't matter what aperture we have set, if the focus is correct, the lens is sharp and perfect throughout the photo area, both in the center and at the edges. In short, it has nothing, absolutely nothing to envy to the fixed series V. The focus if mounted on Hasselblad 907X cfv 100C is quite fast and hardly misses, if mounted on X1D or X2D I don't know, but maybe it would be the same or even better. The star, which forms on the lights at night, when the diaphragm is closed, is uniquely shaped, with its 8 points, also very defined but also very discreet, it never tends to stretch too much and be intrusive. Its tropicalization and resistance to water and humidity, I will hardly be able to test, as with the 907X it is better to stay dry, in order to avoid damage to the car, but let's say that with 15 thousand euros in hand in the rain or at the mercy of the waves during the storms, you don't go so lightly!! You can mount 77mm screw filters, so both the classic circular filters and the NiSi JetMag Pro fit perfectly and with great practicality. I am so happy with this lens, and after 12 years of incessant photography, realizing this dream of mine, I have come back great stimulation to go and shoot as if it were the first day!! If you have a Hasselblad car, and 6000 euros to spend, take it without hesitation, it's the wide-angle of life!! |
