Pros: weight, balance, haptics, f1.2, pricing, colour, sharpness, stearing-ring

Cons: No lens hood, AF is not fast - but "ok", not perfectly quiet, no stabilisation, for Canon-User cheap - but 500 € are 500 €!

Opinion: It is not an "L". You feel it, you hear it, you see it by using. But the pictures are extremely good. It makes SO MUCH fun to use it, because the weight and balance are perfect! My RF50mm f1.2L is better and sharper and and and... but it is NO FUN to use it, because of the weight. I love both - the 45mm and the 50mm. When it's an important day (marriage etc.), i will take the 50mm f1.2L - because it's the best you can use. But in daily using and on tours the RF45mm f1.2 is the choice! BUT: 500 € are not less money. For an Canon (closed-)System-User yes - but being honest: not really.

Pros: Weight and size, aperture, focal length, background separation

Cons: Open sharpness at edges, chromatic aberrations, blurred sometimes nervous

Opinion: After reading every existing thread and wanting to replace the 50 1.8 I decided to buy it. There was a lot of curiosity especially for the comparison that Canon itself made with the ef 50 1.2 L from which it inherited strengths and weaknesses. Knowing this lens very well, I could find similarities mainly in the defects (which for that lens were "characteristics") namely: nervous blur especially with branches in the background, chromatic aberrations as well as the great ability to separate the background. In my opinion it lacks a bit of magic that the old ef. I think it is better instead as regards the sharpness at ta at least in the center and I judge this lens sharp enough for portrait and wedding use (my use) where maximum detail is not sought. Ultimately a lens that certainly does not make you cry out for a miracle as initially thought (it is not worth more than what it costs) but that knows how to produce beautiful images and that within the kit of a portraitist certainly finds its space, especially for those like me who are not looking for perfection but usability, including weight and size since I keep it around my neck even 12 hours straight.

Pros: Weight, shape, aperture size...

Cons: Maybe not suitable for all tastes. It's not an L-series (FINALLY)

Opinion: Not to say.... a lens designed FINALLY for those who do not live from photography, but love to shoot and not snatch mega graphs and statistics.... With € 500 you can take home a fixed focal length with an extraordinary aperture. Let's get to the photo side.... I tested it in 2 events.... sports and portrait. It drove me crazy, I didn't feel the lack of zoom and that pinch of wide angle that you perceive I like and it excited me. Combined with the R6 mk2 it tracks the subject without problems and even at full aperture the shots are sharp and in focus.... On the video side it is fun and very light, unlike the 35mm 1.4 vlc, it does not have that annoying ring for the focus selector that sometimes you touch involuntarily. It doesn't have a lens hood it's true, but it's certainly available from third parties or easily 3d printed if someone wants. I recommend it to those like me who don't want to spend the madness of the 50 1.2 and not have a heavy fixed to carry in their backpack.

Pros: Perfectly balanced weight, excellent blur and detachment with the background at 1.2, excellent sharpness from 1.2, cheap

Cons: The standard lens hood is missing, but we already knew

Opinion: It is not always necessary to buy an L-series, even as a professional. Very happy, arrived today, tested and it is really the lens I was looking for last year when I bought the 50mm 1.4 L out of desperation, for heaven's sake beautiful, excellent performance, but the 1.4 is absolutely unbalanced! (Horrible is the new magnet focusing technology, which as soon as the camera is turned off the focus remains free and you feel the play of the piece inside oscillating.) In fact, resold the 1.4 and immediately bought the 45mm 1.2. Perfect, balanced in the camera, fast, sharp, comfortable to use in reportage, right weight and I already feel it an extension of my eye.
