Pros: Very high optical quality, easy handling, excellent chromaticism, dimensions and weights that are not excessive, extremely balanced even in freehand use.
Cons: None, also because the only defect that in theory could be attributed to him is the lack of the stabilizer ... which, however, in 1978, had not yet been invented.
Opinion: I have used it for fifteen years and it has given me great satisfaction, first of all for the high sharpness, secondly for the splendid chromaticism (typically FD) that it returns, and finally for the extreme ease with which it is used freehand, which for me is an essential condition. The extreme balance that is obtained by using it on a motorized F-1n body has also allowed me to use it, freehand of course, with shutter speeds up to 1/60 of a second with always excellent results and to risk, sometimes, even 1/30 of a second combined with a high success rate... over 50% to be clear. Finally, the high magnification it ensures, especially combined with the very high brightness ensured by the K (bright ground laser) focusing slide, ensures a speed of MaF, combined with its precision, absolutely amazing. Finally, the sharpness, already very high at TA, increases again, albeit slightly, at f 5.6 and then returns, closing at f 8, to the same levels obtainable at TA... I don't remember ever going beyond it although, perhaps, on some rare occasion I could have reached up to f 9.5 ... but beyond that certainly not. One last positive note must be made regarding the distortion, of which it is absolutely devoid, a virtue that makes it very useful in order to isolate architectural details placed at a great distance. |
