Pros: Very good focal range for an APS-C (of course, starting from 15mm ... dreaming you can not?), light, compact, with a reasonable yield.

Cons: Both new and used still costs a lot, but with a single lens you do a little 'everything.

Opinion: I received it after making the first version, the one simply marked "IS" and received from a seller who did not even know what he was selling: this is another world. This model has autofocus, and the MAF is fast and quiet even if sometimes it gets stuck a little and you have to press the shutter button two or three times to get the focus (it happened to me photographing a rapeseed field moved by the wind). It's dark, unfortunately it starts from 18mm and not from 15mm, it's a bit plastic, but it still has a very useful range on APS-C, and allows you to do almost everything with a single lens. Accustomed to the FF with L optics, the difference can be seen all in everything, but this, together with the 50D, will allow me to go mtb (in its padded bag), and take home photos even on these occasions. Edit after the first close-up session: used to do close-up either with the Canon 100L or with the Canon 28-300L, the difference in use is "remarkable". When the subject is at the limit of the minimum distance of MAF and there is some air to move the flowers the AF is no longer effective: it often sticks and fails to focus, and you have to try several times. The only one is to move away about ten cm and then it starts working well again. This could also depend on the AF module of the 50D, but it is the only APS-C I own, I have no way to try it with a 70D-80D-90D.

Pros: All-rounder lens with excellent focal range

Cons: Not very bright and not very sharp

Opinion: Rating 6. This lens disappointed me slightly because I was expecting better image quality. It is definitely a comfortable lens for travel, although it weighs a little too much for my taste. I sold it after a year of use, in 2018 because I switched to mirrorless from Sony and Pansonic. I never regretted the choice.

Pros: Good focal excursion - (almost) all-rounder - fast- good sharpness

Cons: lacks lampshade - limited brightness (3.5 - 5.6) but understandable, proportionate to price

Opinion: I use it mainly in the mountains but I had the opportunity to use it also on the road and solves most situations. the sharpness is appreciable despite not being an L-series lens. It has a considerable weight but is understandable for the type of optics. It has a good stabilization and for me that I take it to the mountains is indispensable (difficult to carry an easel for hours...) - Maybe it distorts a little to the extreme wide angle but you have to consider that it is not a specific goal. Overall in my opinion it deserves a "9" vote

Pros: Autofocus really very fast, precise and quiet, also suitable for video, stabilizer, presence of zoom lock keypad, general appreciable yield to be a handyman, images sufficiently sharp from f5.6 to 11.

Cons: Wide-angle distortion, weight an excessive but justified hair, not tropicalized with tendency to suck powder also due to the lack of glass in the bayonet, not very bright especially from half focal excursion onwards, flares and chromatic aberrations.

Opinion: New taken alongside the Canon 80D, finally a "kit all-rounder" lens appreciable unlike the basic and limited 18-55: this lens is a little more suitable both at the optical level and at the level of focal excursion with its 135 mm, and above all it is a bomb at the level of autofocus: the Nano USM is very precise, very fast and very quiet, therefore suitable for dynamic photos and also for videos, and usable even in the evening. Sharpness and overall yield are also appreciable for basic uses or afternoon outings, good from f5.6 to f11. Chromatic aberrations are everywhere, but especially at the edges, but with lightroom correction the photos are usable, the stabilizer is excellent and allows me to take freehand without moving up to 1/10 and without micromosso up to 1/15. Distortion, especially in wide angles, however, is its weak point combined with the tendency to suck powder. Ultimately it is a lens that for its versatility I love, and I use it as a handyman in the outings where I want to have fun shooting trains, landscapes and occasional photos without having to bring other lenses. For the band in which you place your vote is a full 8! Recommended to kit with machines such as 70D and 80D.

Pros: Autofocus, Construction, quality

Cons: Length at 135mm, Lens hood

Opinion: It is a lens that, in spite of everything, I love it. I got it in the Kit with the 77D and I use it for over two years. He always gave me good votes with excellent colors. Unfortunately the aperture of the diaphragm is the only thing that limits it... As soon as the light decreases a bit, the best thing to do is to remove it from the machine and put something brighter. The autofocus is a real bomb.. No mistake, it is very fast and ultra quiet.. Also recommended for those who want to make videos, since there is also the stabilizer. As I wrote above I think 135mm is a little too long.. And unfortunately like all Canon lenses excluding L-series, the lens hood and to buy apart.
