Pros: Affordable price compared to many competitors. Not overly heavy and good material.

Cons: The sharpness is good, but it performs well up to 300, on the 400 it loses a bit. Not tropicalized and the tripod ring is missing which you have to buy separately and also at a not exactly affordable price.

Opinion: Bought used for 700 euros as a telephoto lens, a bit of an all-rounder and I must say that it behaves very well in my daytime activities for camera hunting. In sharpness it is very good even if at 400 it loses a lot. It doesn't seem particularly noisy to me, on the contrary... And for a cannon it's not even very heavy! The lack of the tripod ring is however a bit limiting, as well as that of multipliers on the market. for the rest, excellent lens

Pros: Sharpness, size and weight quite contained despite the focal range, really good materials

Cons: Lack of tripod ring to buy separately, sigma quality control that leaves me slightly perplexed, not tropicalized

Opinion: After almost a year of use I got a concrete idea about this lens that was literally a relationship of love and hate. Let's start from what has negatively marked my experience with this perspective; The first specimen I bought (fortunately through amazon) arrived with the electronics totally non-functioning, it did not communicate electronically with the camera body, fortunately I could make the immediate return. The second model, purchased on a well-known Italian shop, left me very perplexed right away for about a month of use. I noticed a fairly marked tendency to knead and total loss of microcontrast and fine detail. Initially I blamed myself because I had never used optics of this type, and maybe I still had to become familiar, especially in the management of air density, choosing ideal days, but despite doing tests even at home the results were still very bad, moreover, comparing myself with various photographers and even here on the forum my experience of use was totally different from what were the feedback released about this lens. So after several attempts I discovered that I had the rear lens "fogged up", I could not even define what it was, it was a very light patina above the rear lens, moist, almost muddy, visible only through the flash of the phone, which covered the rear lens, fortunately externally. It was not easy to see this problem or clean the lens totally, as the rear lens resolved very inside the back of the lens, but with a little patience and with the help of the classic pallets for cleaning the sensor I finally managed to do justice to this lens that is really very surprising in terms of performance. As for this strange fact, I do not know if it is due to sigma or to the shop that sold it to me, the fact is that anyway the lens arrived to me perfectly packed and with all the seals closed, so I strongly doubt that it is due to those who sold me the lens. Another negative point is the lack of the tripod ring that must be purchased individually and costs about € 150 that owner sigma and € 60 that of third parties but that still offer a very good quality, honestly I do not understand this commercial choice, I consider the tripod ring indispensable on a lens of this type. The lack of tropicalization is clearly the compromise that requires this lens, but still has an excellent build quality, the attack is however tropicalized, but the body of the lens is not tropicalized, but I still used it in situations of very high humidity at dawn and did not give me any kind of problem. Its points in favor are definitely the size and sharpness. At the center is really a blade at practically all focal lengths, loses something from 300 to 400mm but it is really about looking for the hair in the egg, and solves with eyes closed the 43mpx of the a7rIII and almost certainly has no problems even on the older sisters from 61mpx. I find it very sharp at all openings (clearly at TA loses a little bit) but the best of itself seems to give it to f11, returns literally sharp files.

Pros: Superlative sharpness

Cons: Absence of tripod mount and cost of the latter

Opinion: Sharpness equal to the Sony 100-400 at f8 only that costs less than half. Tripod mount essential for landscape photography that I had to buy separately and at a decidedly excessive cost (150 euros). The only sore point: it suffers from the wind and even on a tripod it is not very stable. I find too high the attack that in most cases fails to cushion the micro vibrations.

Pros: Excellent sharpness, easy to handle, top quality / price ratio

Cons: The only flaw is that there is no multiplier on the market.

Opinion: Many complain about the lack of the tripod ring, but given the cost and knowing it from the beginning you can not judge it as a lack, with less than € 50 I took it through the internet and end. What matters is the quality of the glass and here we are, center in full. Even at full aperture it goes great at all focal lengths and a slight drop to 400 mm. you can see it only by going to magnify in an exaggerated way and all at just over a third of the cost of the Sony. For those who make occasional use, but not only, it is definitely convenient, If used on APS-C it becomes an excellent 150 / 600. For me who have a Sony kit both FF and aps-c I find two lenses to use, to choose, depending on the need. As mentioned, a good 1.4x multiplier would be useful. We remain hopefully waiting.

Pros: Lightweight, Crisp, Carefully Built, Great Q/P Ratio

Cons: Lack of tripod ring, Zoom lock only at rest (at 100mm)

Opinion: I have had this lens for a few months and I have to say that I am very satisfied. I found myself buying an alternative ML system to the 7Dii + sigma 150-600S choosing lightness without giving up quality. This lens combined with the Sony a6400 is for me an ideal solution for those who find themselves hiking in the mountains but do not want to carry useless weights. It is sharp at every focal length (perhaps it loses a little at 400mm when compared to the Canon 400L f.5.6 that I own), has a fast and good AF that I personally use only for the central points, has a valid quality of construction for a lens that Sigma has cataloged as a "C" series and an unsurpassed Q /P ratio. Compared to the same GM model as Sony, it holds up the comparison in every field leaving forum discussions to the fanboys. I found it in bad taste not to use the typical case of Sigma lenses which for this lens is absent. The lack of a tripod ring is also noticeable, but I personally use it exclusively by freehand.
