Pros: Price, sharpness up to f/8, build quality.

Cons: Sharpness from f/11 onwards, ring position, working distance.

Opinion: I recommend this lens to those who want to learn the basics of macro photography without spending too much. In fact, by providing a 1:1 reproduction ratio (among other things on an aps-c sensor) and a more than good sharpness up to f / 8 allows you to experiment with all those procedures (manual focus, focus stalking, use of flash and speakers, filters, adequate post-production, etc.). Indispensable even if you want to take the plunge and buy a more performing macro lens. In fact, the merits of this lens as far as I am concerned end here. The sharpness already from f/11 undergoes a sharp drop, which for a macro lens is quite inconceivable. If you want the 1: 1 ratio, the lens stretches conspicuously, reducing a working distance that would already be short starting being a 40mm. For those like me who shoot mainly freehand with flash and diffuser, the rings (although fluid and pleasant) are in a really uncomfortable position: it is a moment to change aperture or focus by mistake. However, thanks to this lens I became passionate about macro: I learned a lot and I still enjoy it; That's why I gave him full sufficiency. With a little patience I got good shots, but if you have professional claims or you want to "throw" a few shots, then you might as well keep sti € 120 and put them on another lens.

Pros: Construction, robustness, pleasant blur, value for money

Cons: Maf with focus peaking a bit problematic

Opinion: Purchased a few days ago and tested, this lens has an excellent quality compared to the price, made of metal, fluid rings, the screw cap is a bit strange, the manual maf with focus peaking is a bit problematic in the sense that to see well the highlighted areas in focus the subject must be well lit, anyway I am satisfied with the purchase.

Pros: Low cost, robustness, or at least it seems. Magnification ratio of 1:1.

Cons: Almost impossible to use at long distances.

Opinion: I took this lens to try some macros at a low cost and it works. Good sharpness and fluidity of the rings. Of course, if you want a more performing macro you should get a lens with a longer focal length, so as not to have to get too close. In fact, if you want to reach the maximum magnification ratio, 1:1, you have to bring the optics to three cm from the subject, thus removing a lot of light. The problem arises in the use at greater distances. I thought I had the added value of a lens that would allow both macro shots, both street and portraits. Unfortunately, it is very problematic to focus beyond the distance of one meter, one and a half meters. In fact, you can use a few millimeters of rotation of the in charge ring and it is not at all easy. But I must also admit that my vision is not the best and maybe there will be those who will not find particular difficulties. But the photos published here are practically all macro, not anything else. Except one with a very particular light. For the cap, if instead of a second I have to use two or three to unscrew it, for me it is not a problem, absolutely, I am not the fastest photographer in the west. And in any case a screwed cap will never leave its seat. Then, if it creates idiosyncrasies, just buy another universal one. A few euros and it's done. In conclusion, a macro objective that for what it costs offers results. Se cerca more, mh... Let's say that its ideal use would be more for still life, in the studio, and for not very small objects, where I think it has an excellent predisposition.

Pros: Extraordinary value for money. Build quality

Cons: Very impractical lens cover

Opinion: The strength of this lens is undoubtedly the extraordinary quality / price ratio. With just over 100 euros you can take home a discreet lens to approach macro photography. It is well built, solid and sturdy. The optical quality is good, also used as a "normal" lens (on apsc it is in fact a 60 mm equivalent FF). The aperture ring moves half a stop at a time with fairly precise shots. The focus ring is well frictioned and allows for easy and precise focusing. I confirm what I read in other reviews, namely that the color rendering is quite cold, but it is not a problem in my opinion. Small note out of tune the lens cover, which consists of a small metal cap that screws on the thread of the filters. It turns out impractical, but just replace it with a simple cap with a diameter of 52mm, and even that is not a problem. For the record I mounted it on a small X-E4 and, if it is true that it unbalances the car a little (... something that also happens on this camera body with lenses such as the 23 or 35mm f2), the overall handling is not bad even if used without additional grip. I highly recommend the purchase to those who want to experience a bit of macro without fainting.

Pros: Excellent image definition, nice bokeh, fluid bezel, aperture with click, good and detailed even for portraits.

Cons: Curtains (slightly) blue but easily adjustable with settings in the room or in PP

Opinion: I use it on my Xt20 fuji, perfect and solid mount, unbalanced (heavier than the camera) is a problem if the camera should be supported because it tends to rest the tip of the lens. For the rest I was amazed (positively) by the quality of both the lens and the structure. A 40mm is more or less equivalent to a 60mm (FF) and therefore I find it perfect for portraits that I have already tried to do and that satisfied me with the yield. The only problem, in addition to the imbalance was only that it tends slightly to cold colors, but perhaps it is just a personal taste, since I do not have calibration tools to give an exact evaluation about it. Rating 9.5 especially for the price and quality.
