Pros: Great lens, very versatile, excellent IS, sharp in all aperture and lighter.

Cons: Rarely some inconsistencies.

Opinion: I'm been using this lens with my Canon 7d as a kit lens, compairing to 24-105 f4 L, 28-135 as my other lenses its very versatile and much sharper. Built quality of this lens is excellent. 15mm wide up to 85mm can shot any types of subjects from portraiture to landscape. This lens is capable of shooting a macro shot with superb sharpness, contrast and color rendition.

Pros: Focal range, sharpness, colors, flare resistance, stabilizer.

Cons: Turn off the stabilizer for tripod use.

Opinion: It is an excellent all-rounder, I use it for those trips in which I prefer to bring not excessively expensive equipment, and do almost everything with a single perspective (beach holidays, city visit, mountain excursions). I can't say if my copy was particularly successful, but the sharpness that restores the lens is impressive over the entire focal range, especially if closed to f/8. Beautiful colors for which very little PP is required. The flare resistance is also amazing to me, photos taken at sunset with the sun inside the frame without a hint of flare. The stabilizer then, although not a tool I rely on when shooting, is still a plus. However, you must remember to deactivate it when mounting the camera on a tripod, because otherwise the photo will be irretrievably to be trashed. I can say that it is a lens that has given me great satisfaction in recent years and that I will continue to use in the years to come.

Pros: Focal range, stabilization, AF

Cons: New cost, dust, sharpness

Opinion: He has long been THE all-rounder for aps-c Canon. The travel that starts from 15mm (24mm equivalent) and goes up to 85mm (136mm equivalent) placed it as unique. Today there are competing goals. The stabilizer is not exaggerated by 4-5 stops but 2 maybe 3 recovers them quietly. The autofocus is very fast and quite accurate. The exaggerated focal length leads it to be moderately dark (after all on the 24-105 mm f / 4 they put a nice L and red line above). The heaviness is average. The compactness is remarkable. By zooming in the lens extrudes and this mechanism brings dust into the barrel (it is not tropicalized). The sharpness is not top but on a zoom with this excursion, age and these dimensions there can also be. If taken used at a good price it can be a bargain.

Pros: Light and maneuverable, versatile, minimum focus distance, efficient stabilizer

Cons: Above 15 Mpxl shows its limits in terms of sharpness, barrel drift, vacuum cleaner

Opinion: I used this lens to replace the 18-55 II kit on the Eos 450D and a 550D. Compared to standard optics another planet in terms of speed of focus, definition and stabilization. With the switch to the Eos 77D (24 Mpxl) he showed his limitations. At first I thought it was a focus problem, but with calibration performed I realized that it was just a matter of lens sharpness (compared to 24-70 2.8 II and 70-200 2.8 II). I recommend it, but look at the sensor you're going to mount it on.

Pros: Versatility, lightness and handling, clarity at the shortest focal points, build quality

Cons: Af unreliable, barrel drift, chromatic aberrations, list price

Opinion: Objective that offers a strong feeling of quality for materials, solidity and construction quality, just affected by the drift of the barrel that in practice disturbs only for accentuated inclinations, very close to the vertical. Freehand, by the way, the hand holds the lens and therefore blocks any movement. Using the tripod you can safely overcome it with an elastic band of just over 5 euros. He is a good all-rounder: in the travel photograph once mounted on the car (I have a 70D) you no longer take it off, it weighs relatively little, it is not bulky and therefore easy to handle. I noticed excellent sharpness (almost from L series) to shorter focal points, from 15 to 20, as long as not at TA, while at medium and high focal points the performance drops, still remaining better than those of the kit lens. The most negative aspect is the focus, which I would call un reliable. It did not always happen, but in some situations that I have to study better, it failed to focus subjects at medium high distances (from 100 m in there). No problem, however, with very close or otherwise low distances. It also suffers from chromatic aberrations. The list price of 799.99 euros proposed by Canon is not valid. The value for money can become favorable under 600 euros or by purchasing the used lens (I saw that it can be found from 300 to 450 euros).
