In this 20mm, however, there is a moderate drop in sharpness at the edges, noticeable on 42 mpx. Forgivable anyway for a wide angle. The distortion is high, but it corrects well with the profile incorporated in the lens. My specimen has well-aligned lenses, there are no shifts or tilts. It is a lens that I would recommend unreservedly. I hope Tamron continues with this series with a unique q/p ratio, it would be interesting a 15mm and in the canvases a 135mm.

Opinion: I bought this Tamron 20mm f/2.8 to replace the Sigma 20mm Art, the latter a lens with exceptional sharpness and free of any defects. Being a passionate travel photographer, the Sigma despite its merits, its weight makes it unsuitable for those like me who are used to carrying the camera over the shoulder for many hours, "it breaks your neck of how heavy it is!" So I decided to reluctantly sell the sigma to buy the Tamron 20mm. The first thing that catches the eye is certainly the design with attention to every detail, although the construction is made of typical Tamron plastic, you can understand it by holding it in your hand. Another interesting aspect is the rubber gasket that makes it tropicalized, ideal for photographing in all weather conditions. A further pleasant surprise was the weight, a feather when compared with the Sigma. Mounted on my Sony a7iii, it seems not to even notice that I have it on my back. After taking some test shots, I noticed with great relief an excellent focus, despite being a bit noisy, but almost always ready and fluid, I would say like my 50mm Sony. Even its sharpness at full aperture of the aperture proves to be quite detailed on almost the entire frame, while to get the maximum detail you have to go down from f / 4 to about f / 11. On the other hand, the distortion is quite evident, if you compare it with the Sigma 20mm Art, but nothing that can not be corrected either in the camera if you shoot in JPG, or in a completely automatic way with Lightroom. What can I say, considering the price I would say that it has no competitors able to match it at the same price, I have had the Sigma Art for about 6 months and I can assure you that this lens is really impressive.

Pros: Build quality, sharpness, weight and portability

Opinion: I used this beautiful 20mm of Tamron in interior photography but the distortion of this lens is really impossible. As everyone has pointed out, this defect is compensated directly in the machine or through a software profile but to have all the images crop, in environments where you fight with mm to compose the frame, is not possible. If you make landscapes and streets you will not even notice the defect but for narrow spaces you will see its limits.
