Pros: Good focal range, build, Speed, Close focus

Cons: Little soft at f2.8, Manual Focussing

Opinion: Apparently, the new replacement for this lens is much better and would be the obvious choice. I liked this older lens, when I had it, which naturally married up with my 70-300mm nicely. However, for landscape and general use, I find Nikkor 16-85mm VR, which I replaced it with more versatile and better image quality and for low-light live music the little Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 has the necessary quality at f2.8 that this Sigma didn't, especially at the edges. So, for me and my needs, the 17-70mm too much of a compromise. For many though, it would be ideal, well weighted, well built and with HSM and stabilisation. Main gripe was the rotating lens barrel which startled during AF. Conclusion - one of Sigma's winners, useful and cost effective package though if buying new, the replacement would be the one to go for. Overall score 8/10

Pros: Versatile luminous and stabilized

Opinion: I use it for about 7 years, especially for ceremonies. very bright and with stabilization it is used in practically every condition. is not very clear at the maximum aperture and is f2.8 only up to 20 mm (about) good for portraits the blurred is very soft. sticker a bit 'too much but nothing exasperated. Pros: Great value for money, bright and sharp, excellent resistance to flare, vignetting nothing on aps-c.
