Pros: Fantastic image quality.., autofocus, battery, size
Cons: Viewfinder a little small, optical unlock button, size, autofocus sensitivity with little light. Rather weak stabilization, standard jpeg all too sharp and saturated, battery compartment doors and charging cable do not close automatically
Opinion: Bearing in mind that this is Sony's flagship APSC, there are some unacceptable things in my opinion. 1) the button to unlock the lens and change the lens is shamefully uncomfortable and impractical, forces very slow and difficult changes using both hands and forcing you to place the parts to detach, change and then hang up 2) small and a little too artificial viewfinder 3) autofocus sensitivity with little light up to - 1 EV, unacceptable for a flagship apsc designed for sporty and action use That said, the machine still pays off great by providing a fantastic image quality that at low ISO has nothing to envy to FF.. In fact, in my opinion it is better than my Canon 6D ( characteristic of sony/Nikon 24mpx and 20 mpx sensors, so even my other Nikon d7500 churns out sharper and richer images of the 6d) The sensor mounted on the sony still remains superior to that mounted on Nikon, despite the filter.. Captured detail and iso seal are slightly higher, thanks also to sony's VERY valid objectives, and those of third parties for sony. In addition, you can make some really remarkable crops. For my taste, however, the "look" of the image is a little too "articial" "electric"... I fear modern mirrorless features, which have reached such a high level of sharpness and contrast at the expense of a loss of naturalness and "pasty". I don't know if I explained myself... Autofocus is a goduria.. Fast, precise, reliable. It suffers a little if the light conditions are very poor and the scene is little contrasted. Actually he never gave me any problems during sporting events and photo hunting, but it is a fact, and represents an important problem especially for landscape photography .. if there is little light and little contrast it struggles to focus on the landscape, often and willingly does not hook up at all. The battery is infinite.. I've never been able to get to the bottom of it and be without it, which happens to me more or less frequently with reflex canon and nikon. And I've never used USB charging during use.. The car is very small and light, a small box, which is on the one hand an advantage, because it is practically in the pocket of a vest with 18-135, and in the other pocket there is a medium canvas, the Samyang 12mm and the sigma 30mm are in the pocket of the short pants.... On the other hand it is a defect because the grip is not optimal and for example in sports photography it is a disadvantage. I have to say, however, that my Olympus Em1 ii with 12-60 2.8/4 is much lighter than the A6600 with 18-135. I find all the keys very intuitive and comfortable, many of which, not to say all, are customizable to sew it on you at will, and this is a great value. The menu needs to be studied well, it is complex but very rich. The materials with which it is built are discreet, but in my opinion it is not bombproof and marks easily. The battery counter does not dock automatically, which is rather uncomfortable. The digital indication of focus distance in MF is useful, but I would also have preferred a focus magnification greater than 11x. Stabilisation lags behind the competition. It is absolutely not the 5 /5.5 stops declared, but at most 2.5 stops... The more optical dual machine stabilization barely balances the best stabilizations of reflex optics. That is about 4 stops |
