Pros: Sharpness already at TA.

Cons: Some problems with AF

Opinion: Classy lens, taken used for photographs in low light conditions (portraits indoors, concerts...), to be placed alongside the Nikon 60/2.8 Afs, which I use with great satisfaction for outdoor photos, from macro to landscape. I needed a bright lens around 50 mm. Everything has already been written about this goal. I will dwell on just two points. The first concerns the three-dimensionality of images. Some argue that it is a lens that gives great three-dimensionality; vice versa, others claim that very sharp images come out, but flat due to the poor microcontrast and poor three-dimensionality, as seems to happen also with the Sigma Art 135/1.8. Certainly the Sigma Art 50/1.4 does not reach the three-dimensionality of the Milvus 35/1.4; However, it does not seem to me to be so poor from this point of view either. The problems of the f/b focus have already been reported several times and I will not dwell: you need to waste some time with the Sigma dock station. If I switch to Nikon Z I hope this problem disappears, even if the idea of using an adapter to use all lenses with F mount does not fascinate me at all (are we sure that the adapter is built with very low tolerances? it doesn't take much for the right and left edges not to be perfectly in line).

Pros: For portraiture, it's the benchmark

Cons: Weight not feather, price not easy-cash

Opinion: It's a lens from the Sigma Art series, let's say a "PRO" version of which you feel the need after having become deeply familiar with what you want to photograph. It remained in my wish-list for a while, but a few months ago I replaced it with the 50mm f/1.8 Nikon, another nice but basic lens. To say that I'm absolutely happy with this fifty is limiting, I like the way it moves on my Nikon, I like the sense of sturdiness, I like it to the touch and above all I like it as a photographer. At generous apertures it gives very refined bokeh, at the same time I did not encounter particular focusing problems, as previously read. If on the one hand the level of the lenses is very high, on the other hand it is a lens that does not give anything to those who stand in front of it: very sharp and precise, it does not discount anyone, the defects emerge mercilessly proof of software in post. I've tested it in a couple of studio shoots, but it's outdoors that its features widen the gap between basic lenses and this one. Yesterday I used it at an event and it didn't miss a shot, where I wanted to take it it went. The downsides are in a weight that is certainly not a feather, but in the end I preferred to go to the gym to do some weights than to remove from the bag a pair of "art" optics and the price that is not really affordable by everyone so without batting an eyelid.

Pros: Pretty much everything

Cons: Sometimes AF Wrong on Nikon D850

Opinion: This is my first review. I review this lens because he is my ''handyman'' and now I know him quite well. Always used only in nature shots (photographer especially lightning) I can only say that it is an authentic bomb used with D850. Focus always in Live View (during the day) because, despite being calibrated with the Sigma dock, on three focuses, I am wrong one ..... However, for the use I make of it, it is of little interest. At night, manual focus, if it is perfect, you can crop endlessly (always with D850). At open apertures (from 2.8 down) it loses some sharpness at the edges.

Pros: Optically perfect, right size

Cons: Heavy to be a 50mm, unbalanced on small bodies, AF not perfect on SLR

Opinion: Used for a period, I came from 50 Zeiss planar f/1.7, Canon 1.8 STM and 1.4. The quality is there, it can be seen and lifted. It is heavy but not intolerable since it is compact. On a body type 5D fits us perfectly and does not unbalance. Optically it is perfect, very correct and the blur is quite neutral. Give images that look like Photoshop: a sticker on a blurred background. On Canon SLRs, however, the AF is not consistent, it is not always precise and in case of movement of the subject it is not reliable. I preferred the 50L which, strangely, is also more reliable on the AF side.

Pros: Sharp

Cons: A bit heavy

Opinion: I'm not very good at doing the reviews, especially the technical ones, but I have this lens for about 1 month and every time I use it is spectacular, it creates real masterpieces for someone like me accustomed to the kneaded photos of the canon 17-40 and the canon 35 f1.4 the sharpness of this lens is fantastic real colors and microcontrast create an intriguing mixture we hope that continuing to use it does not end up surprising me
