Pros: It is small and it is light. .

Cons: 1) Very difficult, if possible, to shoot 1:1 with this one - you cannot get that close to an object without the lens and camera making a shade over the object. 2) No OIS of any kind - useless with XT1, XT2, XT3, XT10 / XT100 - XT30 / XT200 3) Priced EUR 600, with identical Panasonic and Olympus lenses priced EUR 300 - and these have OIS !!! .

Opinion: As I am a true pain in the ass I get invited to local Fuji events by the main local camera shop. Last weekend I was given the opportunity to try the 30mm macro lens and the new version of the older 56mm lens. I found the 30mm macro lens a joke - uncomfortably small, and narrowing towards the front with not enough circumference to comfortably hold it (I hold my kit by the lens, not by the camera body). It is great that the lens is small and light - but why is it such an odd, un-ergonomical shape ??? I have no idea. But it just does not work for me (I have mid-size palms). . And the asking is EUR 600 - twice what we would pay here for a stabilized Panasonic lens of the same quality. So again Fuji gives us a so-so lens at a ridiculous price. . As for image quality - you can see tests online, it is OK.

Pros: Small, light, compact, excellent construction, excellent AF, very high sharpness, closed apertures for macro photography, no chromatic aberrations, excellent behavior with extra magnification filters.

Cons: Bokeh a can nervous or let's say specific lens for macro photography if used for other I do not recommend it, difficult to use very close minimum distance, useless lens hood due to minimum distance, weak on long distance with soft corners wide open, vignetting present.

Opinion: Tried yesterday the small Fuji 30 macro. Built in an excellent way with excellent rings also the one to adjust the diaphragm I find excellent, excellent AF behavior for a macro tested even with a really good 11mm ring. The excellent performance even if optimized for close to long distance certainly loses something compared to another lens, I find the bokeh nervous but I think physiological for such a short lens. Focusing distance only a few inches at face front touches means that you have to be careful not to ruin the front lens, or tried a few shots with the Godox MF12 flask I find great. Found filter adapter that I need for the Godox MF12 but or made tests with adapter and close up filters for further magnification?, it seems absurd instead I find it very useful on this 30mm lens. Surely a lens suitable for small objects or outdoor study with insects will not be easy to use or additional magnification filter?, recommended especially with stacked focus otherwise the blur will be noticeable only a few millimeters in focus or made tests at f16 with my X-H2 should be strong the degradation instead I do not find it so dramatic but..... Maybe I don't know how to optimize it even with very small apertures. Personally, I don't see it as better to use the Fuji 23 1.4WR/33 1.4 which are also brighter with nice bokeh, I don't buy a macro lens to do anything else. In my opinion the Fujifilm 30 macro a specific lens for macro photography optimized on very close distances with apertures a can closed the optics from the maximum becomes amazing indicated in a particular way for small objects, this lens reminds me of a can the extremes super wide angles where the foreground enormously enlarged with the very small background a particular effect and this 30mm macro also gives a particular effect different than a tele macro lens Change your perspective. The biggest surprise discovered today tried the Tc1.4+11mm ring on very close distances it works great even with excellent AF it zooms further without particular degradation things present in the use magnification filters are comfortable unfortunately with chromatic aberrations present. However, on the Fujifilm system it would be great to have an updated 60mm with 1:1 magnification ratio + with excellent AF for focus stacked function.
