Pros: L-Mount, the raw files, camera profiles, manual focus support

Cons: On/Off switch

Opinion: The camera is very solid - something to buy used. The AF-S autofocus is not current but usable. AF-C is not reliable. On/Off switch is difficult to reach. The menu can be improved. The buttons are good. There are many features like high resolution shot, focus bracketing ... Size and weight is above average. There are lenses which feel balanced with that camera. The greates advantaged of the camera is the L-Mount. There are Sigma lenses, the native lenses, Leica lenses and others. When you buy from a shop, the used price for a mint camera is 730 EUR in Sep 2025. The camera auto white balancing gives you not some warm colors. None of the modes really fits to what you are seeing until you start switching through the camera profiles. I have switched from Standard to Cinema. Finally I have find in the menu the manual focus aids. The camera has the basic settings for my need, now.

Pros: Ergonomics, stabilization, viewfinder, high ISO sealing, ease of use

Cons: Weight, battery life, tracking

Opinion: The best 24 Mpixel I've ever had and I've used a lot of them. The quality of the RAW is excellent and the sealing at high ISO is class-leading. The Dual ISO works wonders and you hardly find any noise in the images. The camera body is imposing, but it handles very well, dials and buttons are very complete and in the right place. The viewfinder is spectacular, large, with excellent visibility and a beautiful naturalness. The machine is fully customizable and can be configured to your taste. The high-resolution shot is excellent, it also manages some minimal movement and, which is very right, the camera comes out with a single RAW that only needs to be developed, no proprietary software, no combination of shots, a single raw of 86 Mpixel. A praise also to the jpegs that come out of the machine, they are very beautiful and quite customizable, we are not at the level of Fuji, but you can do a lot here too. Fast and very precise single autofocus, the tracking is sufficient for subjects that are not very fast. Clearly there are also cons, the battery does not last long compared to the characteristics and this suggests a very "energy-intensive" project with little optimization. The tracking, while sufficient for many situations, is slow and if it loses the subject, it suffers a lot in hanging up.

Pros: Ergonomics, high iso hold, colors, dual xqd and sd slots, battery

Cons: Weight but relatively

Opinion: Recently taken to replace the Sony a7iii and for this reason I write what are my impressions and my comparisons to bring out the differences between brands a little more popular and others more mistreated ..... First held iso: if in this area the Sony a7iii could say its the Panasonic Lumix S1 goes even further.... I shot at an opera concert in Milan at 12,800 iso with more or less the same noise that the a7iii had at about 8,000 iso. A truly incredible hold as well as a greater color hold. Ergonomics: we don't really talk about it... it looks like a glove and having had a G9 I found the same arrangement of buttons, of course it is heavier than the a7iii but the greater ergonomics does not make me feel it too much weight. Viewfinder: even here that we talk about doing, the comparison is merciless, as well as going beyond the license plate data the colors of the viewfinder of the s1 are very natural. Video functions: even here the comparison is merciless, Panasonic wins big and with a much better stabilizer. Battery: here the Sony certainly does better but not so much, but it must be said that the battery of the s1 is larger as mah so here Panasonic must improve. Video functions: even here the comparison is merciless, the S1 wins great and with a much better stabilizer. Autofocus: if we talk about single autofocus the S1 does better and the photos in focus with the contrast system are really in focus while with the a7iii sometimes I happened to have photos not perfectly in focus; in continuous autofocus my impression is that there is more precision in tracking the eye / faces in Panasonic rather than in Sony where the Sony certainly has more speed and shooting cadence. As well as in tracking animals or subjects in rapid movement here Sony wins but for these areas I'm waiting for the s5ii just announced that seems to work wonders. Concisely..... being more or less at the same price new I would think about which one to buy, in my case I preferred the S1 after a few months with the a7iii, certainly the compatible lens park for Sony is wider but that for Lmount is expanding rapidly thanks above all to Sigma.

Pros: Camera with exceptional performance.

Cons: AF to improve

Opinion: A camera that allows you to use, both for video, cin the paid software package, that with photography, has no problems on high ISO an exceptional color rendering, the software, although a bit complex, quite intuitive, firse a little heavy but also no, if we go to consider the DSLR SLR, allows you to shoot in any situation and when you do not have time and desire to set steps to AI mode and solve in any situation, even the most critical, allows you to shoot video, in addition to 10 bits in the room that the 12 bit outside, continuous shooting without detachment in full HD, has video emulation in APSC and in 1-1 ratio, the 6K, although then little manageable on a PC (normal) but beautiful to see on a 4K TV, I could write for hours on this camera, it satisfies me in everything, even if the AF system does not give me as much as hoped in situations a bit 'critical light and for sports photos, it improves so much with video shooting, I am satisfied with this camera. Ps. For those who complain about the cost of the XQD I simply say to evaluate the reliability and speed, compared to the SD, personally I would have preferred two XQD slots, the camera has an important cost you can not complain and deserves to have a valid and reliable support.

Pros: Sensor, viewfinder, ergonomics, robustness, L-mount mount

Cons: Autofocus not great in some rare situations

Opinion: As soon as it was taken in hand it was immediately love. To begin with, a feeling of solidity never encountered before (I used Nikon), then the handle that fits perfectly with my hands, the exceptional ergonomics with all the keys and rings right where they need to be. Bigger and heavier than the usual mirrorless, but this is an aspect that I consider positive. Let's talk about the viewfinder: here we are on a level that is completely "different" from what we have seen so far, it is something FANTASTIC! It is very close to the pentaprism, realistic, fast, faithful colors and a vision that makes you forget that you have "a screen" in front of your eye. I don't think you can find better on the market, certainly not in this price range. The sensor: here too we are close to perfection, with its 24 Mpx without "anti-aliasing" filter it returns a very beautiful and detailed image, with bright colors and a very natural complexion. The yield at high ISO then is something incredible. "Noise-free" files up to 10,000 ISO, then it starts to appear. The much-criticized self-focus is actually an excellent system, which only in rare circumstances shows some limitations. In most situations it hooks well (even in low light) and is very accurate. The gust is not "sporty" but is adequate for all other genres. For me, who prefer portraiture, it has no limits. The L-mount mount: one of the strengths of the machine, it allows you to mount lenses of the same Panasonic but also Leica and Sigma "dedicated". The autonomy: here too a great job has been done, we are not at the levels of the SLRs but still we have a very "generous" battery. In conclusion: A machine very close to EXCELLENCE, excellent sensor, top ergonomics, robust and that makes you want to shoot ... All the time! Rating 10.
