Pros: Image quality, portability, ISO holding, articulated LCD, night shooting function.

Cons: Useless viewfinder, dancer AF.

Opinion: I bought this machine at a great price some time ago. Taken with me for a trip, I don't think I'll sell it. Excellent images in all light conditions, both JPG and RAW (quite malleable). Very wearable and not too heavy, it turned in the pocket of the coat, always ready to use. It doesn't make me regret newer and more powerful sensors from Fuji. Set to P, with automatic ISO up to 1600 it's a great travel tip and shoot, reliable and discreet. The images offer a marked contrast that, with some tricks on the white balance, recalls old films such as the c200. The handheld night shooting function (takes three photos and combines them) is useful and well performing. Too bad it only produces a JPG and not a RAW. There are flaws, such as the practically useless viewfinder: it covers only 70% of the image and it is difficult to compose correctly. The AF is often fluctuating and the use in MF is cumbersome. I got around this by using a small center focus area, using the old method of recomposing before shooting. Center-weighted average exposure works better than the others, avoiding overly large underexposures. Recommended for those looking for prints up to 30x40, portability and slightly retro colors.

Pros: File quality, functions, ergonomics, fully articulated LCD.

Cons: Weak battery, sometimes shaky AF, minimum focusing distance.

Opinion: Found as a good opportunity and bought again to be used, given its size, mainly as a motorcycle travel companion. After using its two sisters, the Mk2 and the Mk3 and after switching to the sony100 for compactness, I went back to it: not too small, not too performing and with some defects mainly due to age, but with a reference file quality for the category and that, even today, if used at the right ISO (no more than 1600) gives a lot of satisfaction, more than some current models. The solid construction makes it an excellent travel companion and the 14mpx are not so few, since you get good A3 prints and even decent A2 prints. The limit given by the battery is easily remedied, that of the minimum focusing distance is a little more boring, but I don't pretend to make real macros so I tolerate it. I almost never use burst and video so I don't express myself, while the optical viewfinder, although partially obstructed at the shorter focal lengths, makes life easy in situations of high brightness and the articulated screen allows you to avoid acrobatics in "special" shots. AF is sometimes iffy, like many cameras of its generation, but personally it has never caused me any problems. There are so many functions available and the menus are quite simple to understand. Do I recommend it? Yes, if you find it at the right price and if you understand what you are buying.

Pros: Pro sensor in articulated miniature LCD body robustness and vintage style. No wifi, no 4 or 5k videos, no unnecessary technological distractions

Cons: I didn't find any

Opinion: Socket at 90 euros used and shipped and even if the flash does not recharge it seemed to me a good deal. Small pocket tank, complete with everything you need to take great family photos and carefree vacation, without pretending to have top-of-the-range performance you can do everything. With little money you can take adapter for 58 mm filters and not vignette since it is sized well, timer for 4k timelapse and hood. Many complain about small and useless optical viewfinder, af and slow burst and battery that does not last long, but for me it is not so just adjust accordingly to live happily and have good memories In the pros I add dynamic range and iso management very good, as well as shadow recovery if you shoot in raw. Another cool are the focal lengths preset by menu, focus bracketing and hot shoe for dedicated flashes. To top it off you can install chdk and have extra functions such as various zebra histogram and motion detect, with which I photograph lightning without slamming. Basic video compartment, but to film grandchildren in minibikes turning off candles is diving to the sea more than good, certain that for the iron throne serious directors turn elsewhere. Ultimately I am very happy with the g1x and I recommend it to all those who love photos and printing of the same, I do not recommend it to social fans because then they will even have to extract the SD and insert it into an SD reader to publish, crazy stuff. I hope I have been clear and useful to those who wonder if it is appropriate to buy such a vehicle in 2023

Pros: Ergonomic, usable images even at high ISO noise is acceptable, 360 ° rotatable display

Cons: optical viewfinder unusable, making slow fire and not focusing at short distances, consumes a lot of battery

Opinion: camera for every day for those who love to travel or carry a camera not too heavy or bulky, the images are perfect I think is comparable to an entry level SLR, it operates at high ISO noise well and generated files are not very incisive but perfectly workable in post, 360 ° rotatable display allows shooting from as many points without any problems, well-distributed commands and functions appropriate to the product. The cons? The optical viewfinder is not unusable by any information on the shoot and it is unclear where the camera focuses on, the battery does not guarantee a high number of shots (agrees to buy spare a few), the focus is not very fast and the minimum distance the focus is mostly up high (almost a meter minimum distance). I do not know whether or not to advise definitely recommended for generated images but there are 2-3 things you might not like ... I hope to try the markII

Pros: image quality, plenty of features, versatility, swivel screen

Cons: autofocus, minimum distance of focus, viewfinder

Opinion: Worthy replacement for a DSLR, does not regret the big sister for image quality and customization of the shot. Around the city it is very comfortable, in a moment put it into the bag even if it is very large! RNI are two major defects, slow focus and distance of focus: a maximum focal length with the macro we are active on 90 cm ... a bit 'too! Focusing in itself is not a problem because if you pretend to take pictures with this sports car you buy wrong, but on rare occasions it is slow even with slow or static subjects. The viewfinder is pretty useless, too bad!
