Pros: Very sharp, stabilization is effective and the lens appears well built and rugged. 67mm filter size is a plus.

Cons: None so far.

Opinion: This lens is very underrated. I bought my 70-300L IS used from a major Lens Rental company to replace my 70-200 f4L IS. The 70-300 is heavier but the longer reach is well worth it. It is shorter than the 70-200 but only about 13mm (.5 in) wider and uses the same 67mm filters. The 70-300 fit very nicely in my camera bag without having to reorganize it. I bought an inexpensive 3rd party Tripod ring but rarely use it.

Pros: An excellent zoom from medium to telephoto, remarkable quality and extension. Portability and stabilization ok.

Cons: Not very bright and a little heavy, but are they serious defects?

Opinion: Compared to other more traditional 70-300 of the time, a more than valid portrait lens of great optical quality: L series makes and made the difference: some photos especially taken in Paris make me remember it as engraved, portable and well balanced in relation to the various camera bodies, if you find it used you will not regret it!

Pros: Overall quality, travel, footprint and weight, filter diameter.

Cons: Nothing of note.

Opinion: Got used a few weeks ago, brought with me for some field trials. I decided because I wanted to go beyond the excellent Tamron 35-150 I have. I must say that my personal opinion is quite in agreement with what has already been written previously. Excellent stabilization that gives sharp shots even with relatively long times and handheld. I dedicated a gallery to him. It still falls into the category of "portable" zooms without having to bother with a dedicated photo bag. Paired with my 16-35 L IS, you can do anything while staying in a non-demanding overall weight. To date, finding it at a good price considering the spread of RF optics, is not so difficult. Recommended if you have good reasons to hang on to the EF series. I have 5 of them, good reasons and for now... I'm fine with that.

Pros: All (Weight, sharpness, is, L-series construction, AF speed, R-system compatibility, compactness)

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: I used this lens for about two years, first on 70D then on R6, gorgeous, light to take anywhere, used in mountain excursions especially to photograph animals, maybe a little short on ff? it always depends where you are, and what you want to photograph, personally it gave me satisfaction with both camera bodies, its compactness and lightness compared with other similar lenses is definitely an advantage when you want to WALK in the mountains even for several hours, on R6 the AF has improved considerably, already excellent on 70D, same thing IS in combination with that of the camera body allows long-time shots unthinkable on the old EF system, always used freehand without any problem, excellent balance and tropicalization; definitely underestimated until you try, then you fall in love

Pros: Underrated, unappealing, sharpness, AF, lightness, compactness, L-construction, stabilization

Cons: It does not natively reach 400mm, no one else.

Opinion: GENTLEMEN I PRESENT THE MOST UNDERESTIMATED GOAL OF CASA CANON! Gentlemen here we talk about a lens that is used at 500 euros, has construction from Canon L series, an AF equal to that of supertele and stabilized. Very clear lens, we are on the band of Canon's whites, so 100-400 II, 70-200 2.8 II. Compared to these it pays for not being enough, not bright enough like the 2.8 and not long enough like the 400mm but for this reason it is exceptional: It weighs just over 1kg compared to 1.5kg of the lenses mentioned above, it has the external zoom that although it makes it more "ugly" makes it very compact to put in the backpack. This makes it more transportable than even the 70-200 f/4 L IS I and II EF. If you are looking for a mid-range price but higher quality you will find a used specimen of this series, well maintained, and you will have found a whitefly. Highly recommended.
