Opinion: Given that I bought it used, it is a monster lens that really satisfies all the needs at least at my amateur level, if you don't want to carry around a set of fixed lenses (in my case 20-40-85 mm), wandering around the streets and moors. The sharpness and colors were, for me, very satisfactory and exceeded the expectations triggered by so many dubious if not negative reviews. I think the distortion at 24 mm is more a focal length problem than a lens problem per se, however I will try the correction in post production, if I have time, and I will be able to tell you, but I don't think it is a tragedy if you avoid shots of architecture and close-up portraits. The extreme focal length at 240 mm surprised me with its quality and sharpness. The focal ring is quite smooth except towards the extreme focal lengths on the tele side where it hardens a bit, but there are no problems of elongation of the barrel by gravity, with the camera on the shoulder. The weight, including the camera body I have (A7II), can be felt (about 1400 gr) but it can be supported, considering that you do practically everything with it. The autofocus gave me some problems, however, regardless of the brightness of the scene and the details, with some inexplicable black outs, which in truth were no longer repeated by changing detection modes. I don't know if this is a defect of the lens (used, by the way), or some inexperience of mine. In conclusion, it deserves a 9 with reservations (for the zoom issue, to be explored soon). For those who don't want complications of slow changes on the run, I highly recommend it, considering the affordable price (especially in the used one, as happened to me, and which prompted me to buy, given the occasion).

Pros: All-rounder focal excursion; solidity; very good optical stabilizer; dimensions and weight for its type; Decent quality up to 100mm, discreet up to 150mm; chromatic aberration acceptable for the type of lens.

Cons: Capricious AF: sometimes it is quick and accurate, other times it is very weak (generally good with a lot of light and bad with little, it has difficulty when focusing on a single point); quality that decreases progressively and significantly as the focal length increases; yield "kneaded" at high ISO compared to other objectives; very low flare resistance; dark; minimum focusing distance.

Opinion: An all-rounder lens that I find suitable especially for daytime / evening landscaping. At night, unfortunately, I found a very low flare resistance in the presence of direct light sources and a quality generally more "kneaded" at high ISO than other lenses. The chromatic aberration I found more than acceptable, as well as the sharpness especially up to 100mm; at 150mm the loss is already evident, even more so at 240mm. The color rendering is average, I do not feel like mentioning it either among the PROs or cons. The autofocus is a bit the unknown, generally it is fine during the day or on a wide field but has serious difficulties in the dark on moving subjects or if we set a single focus point. The minimum focusing distance is also a downside, while not being dramatic. The stabilizer is really very effective, even more so when combined with a body that is also stabilized. Unfortunately it is very dark and closes quite quickly, however you can not expect more at this price and especially with this bulk / weight ratio.

Opinion: One of the few full frame super zoom for sony. High cost for a rather low image quality, it still remains a "lifesaver" on occasions when you can not get close.
