Pros: Great focal range. Excellent construction, effective stabilization

Cons: Little sharpness at the edges at short focal lengths and showy chromatic aberrations in general. Little resolving. Not very bright at long focal lengths. Uncertainty in maf with low light at longer focal lengths

Opinion: I bought this lens in 2017 together with a Canon 100D to upgrade to the bridge I used for trips out of town. After having had it for 4 years, I can say with confidence that the quality of the shots obtained at short focal lengths (up to about 28-30mm), was generally quite low (at least in my specimen). The higher up things get a little better. Also rather poor performance when using open apertures. There is a lot of difference between the center and edge of the frame. To achieve greater uniformity, aperture to at least f8.0 must be achieved. Not long ago I also tried the classic Canon 18-55is plastics. In the focal range 18-55 this Sigma all in all did not disfigure so much It could be deduced that with the same category of belonging to the lenses, the yield is roughly equivalent, in the sense that so much you spend and so much get. I do not feel like expressing an absolute negative judgment on this all-rounder, but the idea of accepting the mediocre quality as a pledge to pay for the great focal range, does not lie in my way of seeing photography, especially that of travel. Often we go to distant places and the possibility of returning there to redo certain photos that have gone wrong is impossible. I recommend splitting the use of focal lengths ranging from 18 to 300mm into more optics. Forget the object that can do everything, because it will be mediocre in everything.

Pros: Light, compact at 18 mm., good stabilization, fast and silent AF, good macro magnification ratio, good focal excursion, good performance in relation to the type of lens, better than its direct competitors, possibility to mount focal multipliers

Cons: Plastic, it stretches a lot during zooming, unsatisfactory edges at TA.

Opinion: Good all-rounder with low weight and price, and good overall quality, better than other all-rounder zooms from other brands I've tried as well. I have the 18-200 EF-S Canon, which I feel a bit tight because of the reduced focal excursion and I have to attest that the Sigma I find even higher (slightly) than the original Canon and also the weight is slightly lower. The surprise was the discovery that, on Canon, it can be mounted on the Kenko Pro 300 1.4x and 2x focal multipliers while maintaining AF and stabilization with the first and only stabilization on the second (Canon 100D), while for qualitative results it is advisable to close the diaphragm to values around f. 11 to reduce the inevitable aberrations at the edges of the frame... but the image in the center is quite sharp and detailed even by shooting freehand because the stabilizer works really well. I know that many people will twist their snouts and cry out for scandal, which is that technically focal multipliers can also be used on this objective, making it even usable on FF (Canon 6D). All this must be considered, of course, in those occasions when you can not bring a whole photographic kit below and you want to have greater enlargements without having to crop the photos.

Pros: Versatility, robust construction, stabilization (ON/OFF only), autofocus, zoom block

Cons: Absence of AF-M, chromatic aberration

Opinion: Very versatile lens, comfortable on the go and on all occasions where it is necessary to rationalize the number of optics to be carried with you. When set to 18mm (eq. at 27mm) turns out to be a good wide angle, I don't miss the 10mm too much. For portraits better to take advantage of it from 200mm up, under the images they are a bit flat, better to carry a 50mm or an 85mm. As for the stabilizer it would not hurt to have 2 settings as for other sigma lenses, especially for panning. In some shots the chromatic aberration is definitely evident, Lightroom helps but does not totally eliminate the effect. All in all this is a decidedly very comfortable lens especially during trips or excursions where space and weight are often laughable and carrying 2 or slower can be difficult

Pros: Very ergonomic, autofocus that does not mistake a shot... on any Sony body.. Be it SLT or a classic mirror and if not enough with the USB Dok adjusts to thousandth, silent except at 300mm, up to 135mm some sharp shot you pull it out

Cons: Built in C... # # # # #zzo of dog, not sharp at the edges... sometimes on Sony SLT goes haywire resulting in manual focus even if it is autofocus... front lens protection 0, nightmarish sticker.. At minimum filter the edges are black... Even with the SLIM is not OS like the old 18-250 that even on Sony had the stabilization for the MAF... 16 megapixels in then forget slower pics of 1/100 without the right light.. And for right light I mean the one at noon in July... after only micro-moved stabilizer on two SLT in steadyshoot error after prolonged use chasing birds with burst shot..

Opinion: I use it on Sony SLT, it also works on old A100 and so on.. The autofocus has never missed a shot... believe me.. Never.. Without the slightest adjustment.. But I do not guarantee that on Canon and Nikon or Pentax either uguale...su some programs and sites like Flickr is seen as a Sony DT-18-300.. Careful to choose the lens profile correctly unfortunately it has its faults.. Until F14 forget the uniformity between the center and edges... add also the chromatic aberration at the edges at 300mm which is disgusting to the point that I often have to cut a part of the frame because the difference at some point is horrible.. Here An example of quality at the edges and abberration at F10: https://i.postimg.cc/NF8x5Zdx/herhrehe.jpg a few days ago I cleaned the lens as I do with each lens.. i.e. liquid clean anti-reflective glasses and microfibre cloth... almost after 10 minutes I found the lens in front of all matted.. Do you know why? Because it does not have the slightest shred of protection from infiltrations on the front lens and a part of the vaped liquid was finished behind.. Also the kits have a mini rubber sheath or sponge... this No... I had to run home to disassemble and clean it properly.. A nightmare.. And thank goodness that being technical I am prepared for these eventuances.. Thank goodness.. In fact in 15 minutes of work I was again outside the house taking pictures.. But I honestly fell from my heart.. Never in 20 years that I do photos had happened to me something like this especially at temperatures of more than 20 degrees in the sun... The HSM is slow.. I was expecting more.. Also the AF at 300 mm becomes noisy with time.... PS with two different SLT bodies do not know why often it was more advantageous to remove the steadyshot that leave it active.. Does damage.. Perhaps they do not dialogue as it should but there are currently firmware for models with A-mount Bayonet.. .. Insisting CMQ at some point have gone the stabilizers to both the camera bodies if you are going to buy it for the trips let loose... the first humidity or drizzle will betray you.. I enclose instead some good shots with this lens circumventing its limits.. https://www.flickr.com/photos/71735589 @ N02/31101418978/In/dateposted/https://www.flickr.com/photos/71735589 @ N02/30009322998/In/photostream/https://www.flickr.com/photos/71735589 @ N02/43083942261/In/dateposted/https://www.flickr.com /photos/71735589 @ N02/41328062865/In/dateposted/

Pros: Fast AF, good stabilization, good color rendering, sharpness, robust construction.

Cons: low focal point correctable bending deformation

Opinion: At a distance of a year and after not knowing how many photographs I took, I want to express myself with genuine awareness of the Sigma 18-300 f3.5 / 6.3 DC macro. RnProvenive from a disappointing experience with the Nikon 7200 + tamron 16 -300 with which I had opened a Nikon bracket for my Canon experience, but after a short while I closed for bad feedback with Tamron (absurd chromatic aberrations and recurrent micromouse). So I wanted to give confidence to the Sigma parameters that showed better results with chromatic aberrations and sharpness. However, not after a few weeks of use, but after a year, I can safely say that the Sigma 18-300 is a lens of all respect well built and trustworthy. Its nature is that of the "handyman" but, hand photo, I can assure you that it excels in almost all its focal range.rn Perfect for landscape and macro detail, from 50mm to 90mm ideal for clear portrait, stable even to 300mm ... . with only 415,00 € I installed the Sigma on my Canon 7D and circa one year I have not removed it ... ..with the advantage of the sensor.rn My review for this lens is therefore super positive as it is not a mistake and its evaluation of the "handyman" does not absolutely discriminate its quality, but it has to level it as well as the quality of titled goals. The only overwhelming defect is what at low focal points tends to produce bending but everything corrects with photoshop. My regret after buying it is that it completely distanced me from the park goals that I have provided ... simplifying life especially in my outputs. For a quality product such as the Sigma 18-300 you will have a lens that will please you all in ...... I highly recommend.rn you my photos for a careful evaluation.rn
