Pros: Very solid, mostly made of metal, decent sharpness even wide open, performance vs price

Cons: Distortion at 20 mm, not ultra-wide, vignetting, colours, filter rotates when focussing

Opinion: I bought this lens for a modest price as it has a good reputation. I wanted to have something wider than 24 mm without spending much money as I am not shooting landscapes frequently (my gallery may give a different impression - I do not publish photos of family and friends or portraits of strangers). Although it is not a bad lens, I replaced it soon with a Sigma AF 17-35 mm 2,8-4, although the Tokina was very well centered and sharper wide open (even at the same aperture). Build quality was also better. Why did I replace it then? Vignetting of the Tokina was really bad, at 20 mm easily noticable even at f8. Distortion at 20 mm was quite strong and difficult to correct. After software correction, some waviness remained, and as part of the picture was cut away, the focal length was more like 21 mm after correction. The Sigma had better colours and contrast out of cam, especially when shotting against the sun. So, the Tokina pictures needed a lot of post processing, and even then I liked the Sigma pictures better. Hence, for my needs and taste, the Sigma was the better lens as it was sharp enough stopped down and wider, and did not have the drawbacks mentioned earlier - so it is very handy for landscape and architecture with a tripod or plenty of light. Depending on your needs, preferences and budget (the Tokina can be had for 60 EUR, a the Sigma may cost twice as much), you may come to a different conclusion.

Pros: Great construction, metal and glass. Swallows that rotate regularly and without any games. Just weight and size. Good sharpness closing by two stops. Natural colors. Contained distortion. Presence of the focus distances window

Cons: Lack of a lampshade. Front lens that rotates during sealing. Full-opening softness

Opinion: Taken used on Ebay at a good price to have a cheap wide angle and to use without much hesitation, it did not disappoint my expectations but not even made to shout at the miracle. It's a sturdy, compact lens with a natural color yield and good sharpness from f8 to f11, while it looks too soft at full-opening. Also tried on D800 and does not behave badly, the colors look natural and the sharpness passes the test of the 36 megapixels. For what I paid for it I'm quite satisfied

Pros: Construction, focal range, image quality, little distortion

Cons: No hood, need at least 1 closing stop diaphragms

Opinion: Another solid old style target of tokina.rnUsato good as objective reportage, landscapes, or wide-rounder will give you good pictures and feel of handling a lens and not a true plasticotto ... use I encountered a slight response but underexposed that with a minimum of knowledge of the lens is unable to avoid. The image quality is good but to have improvements should be closed slightly to at least one stop and f / 5.6 to 8 will have the best results even if, I repeat, is usabilissimo also TA.rnManca of the lens hood series. Objective of the substance, glass and metal. relatively cheap in the used market and certainly mechanically will not give you any problems. Good lens can also be used to view the architecture little distortion
