Opinion: I was undecided whether to buy this lens or the first version of the GM, but those only 1040g on a 70-200 were too tempting. Once I gave away an organ, I realized that it was worth it, finally I can face entire portraiture sessions with just this lens, without having to replace it to rest my arm. When you hold it in your hand it is so light that it seems to be missing something, then once you get to the PC, it surprises with the quality of the photos it gives. It's also razor-sharp at 200mm f2.8, where it renders fantastic bokeh. In addition to these qualities, it is the sharpest and most contrasty 70-200 I have ever owned. All combined with a precise and fast af and a perfect Gm lens construction. Even in motorsport, I can easily take photos at 200mm f2.8 and be comfortable with the result. In short, the cost is a con, but it is worth every penny spent.
