Pros: Robust / good picture quality / weather sealed / fun to use

Cons: heavy / cromatic aberration

Opinion: A pro lens which will not let You down. I like it especially for portraits. Detail and color rendition is very good in my opinion. Night shots are great with this lens. Also i had used this lens in heavy rain, and it never failed. Yes, it is large and heavy. So sometimes i leave it at home because of that. Cromatic aberration is slightly visible in specific light set ups. But i would say it is at an acceptable range. Autofocus is fast and smooth. This is a lens that You will keep for Your entire life! I recommend it.

Pros: Sharpness, Large Aperture, good for low light, fast focus, resistant

Cons: too heavy, at 70 mm a bit soft in the corners. No IS.

Opinion: I have this lens from 5 years now. It is fast, provide good quality of image, sharp. I'm using it as an all around lens. Even if I've dropped it a couples of times , it's still working well and it is a wonderful lens. Maybe it is to heavy comparing with other lenses from its class, but it's an L lens. Wide aperture makes it suitable for many situation that's why I have it all time in my bag.

Pros: Granitic , tropicalized blurred , autofocus , today the price

Cons: Undoubtedly, the weight

Opinion: I did it, I bought it back. Sold years ago in favor of the 24-105 f4 II, undoubtedly more versatile but qualitatively not related. Passed to the Rf 24-105 f4 undoubtedly sharper than the EF version but impersonal so much so that it has remained in the stock market too many times in favor of the fixed . In the end I decided to sell the RF and look for a good deal. Found guaranteed and overhauled in depth , not as new but almost and I'm happy. I regretted it for years. Heavy but sturdy and tropicalized, sharp what you need, I don't like the surgical sharpness of modern lenses. On my R6s, stabilization is not a problem. The feature I like the most is the blurred, never nervous, gradual and creamy that goes perfectly with the softness of the images that this lens renders with a poetics of its own. For those who, like me, love the performance of old Canon lenses, it is a boon. For modern renderings, surgical sharpness, shot colors, turn to something else. Fast and accurate autofocus. The sharpness in the center is always good if not excellent that degrades going towards the extremes of the frame but in a progressive way, for me, not annoying. Since it is an outdated lens, pay attention to the degree of wear, it is better to turn to the guaranteed used lens. This generation of L-series lenses is magical to me and affordable today. With reasonable amounts of money you take home sacred monsters.

Pros: Image quality, colors, autofocus, good overall realization

Cons: Rather significant weight and size

Opinion: I bought this lens from a friend, who wanted to get rid of it as it was not working. In the end it was the infamous breakage of the flat cable that caused the malfunction of the diaphragm and therefore the consequent error shown on the display, inhibiting use. Had repaired by a service center, it therefore turned out to be a good purchase. Definitely valid definition, even the colors look very good, I had the opportunity to use it in several portrait shoots, appreciating the rendering. The fact that the lens has a certain age does not affect the results at all, in some contexts it can still say its very good. I have had the opportunity to use it both on reflex and mirrorless and in both cases it produces excellent results, the autofocus is also impeccable, very responsive and on mirrorless even slightly more effective in my humble opinion. Small moles, which are not a problem, are the fairly sensitive weight, which in sessions of several hours is felt, as well as the not exactly reduced dimensions. On the other hand, the fact that the zoom works in the opposite way to usual, lengthening when setting shorter focal lengths and vice versa, did not create the slightest problem for me. Overall, despite the years, a product that is still well usable, which has absolutely not made you regret the money spent.

Pros: L-series, build quality, rendering, and blurry

Cons: Very bulky lens hood

Opinion: Lens that I am very fond of because it was my first L Series. Even if it made me suffer a bit - read the breakage of the flat cable that forced me to service - it gave me great satisfaction. The rendering is very poetic and almost vintage, still excellent now if you are not fanatical of "surgical" sharpness from corner to corner of the frame and excellent for obtaining beautiful portraits. The blur is very nice and soft. The only real flaw I found is the decidedly bulky lens hood, but this is obviously the result of the construction philosophy. The weight? It's not a feather, but after all we're talking about a constant f/2.8. For the rest, it is an absolutely recommended lens with which I have shot in many areas: from sports to concerts to commercial work in the studio. The all-rounder focal length also makes it very flexible. Only changed professional needs made me turn towards version II, otherwise I would have kept it for a long time.
